| Hi ![]() The salad is eaten, so nothing to be done about now, but as long as the carbs in it were from the salad veggies and not anything sugar-y or starch-y then having 8 of your 20 net carbs in one meal is fine and was probably a better choice than many other dishes on the menu. Try to make sure any dressings have no sugar, and maybe take a small container of one with less carbs with you if the regular ones they offer are too carb-y.Many salds at restaurants and other food outlets contain much more than the maximum 3 cups, so I usually leave some on the plate if there is a huge pile to make sure not to overdo my carbs. I hate raw onions in salads so always pick those out plus any carrot strips, which brings the carbs down from any published carb counts on websites. Probably what your colleague was thinking about is 'water intoxication' when people (usually college students on a stupid bet) drink large amounts of water in one go and have been known to die from the effects. However the human body can process about 15 litres of water a day (if I recall correctly) which is about 500 fluid ounces, if drunk slowly throughout the day, so I would not worry. But as long as you are drinking at least the minimum suggested of 8 x 8 US fluid ounces (64 fluid ounces) plus 8 extra fluid ounces for every 25 pounds you want to lose dont force yourself to drink more water unless you are thirsty and want it. I tend to sip from a sports-top bottle all day and drink probably about 5-6 litres a day (150-200 US fluid ounces). I found the constant trips to the loo to pee tended to peter out after a few weeks and so I usually 'go' maybe every hour or two nowadays. The headaches attack everyone differently - some people get none at all, some in the first few days and some several weeks into Atkins. It is often said that being in ketosis according to the strips is similar to a pregnancy test result - you either are or are not in ketosis, and showing any colour is an indication, with some people getting a darker colour because they are not drinking enough water!!

| The most recent response I have heard was to take your weight in lbs. divide it in half and then add oz behind it and that is what your suppose to drink daily. In my case it is a lot!!! Look up my post on water intoxication. SueSue1212
