| Hi, CJB Here's a thread you'll want to read through to help answer your questions. There's a lot of other threads as well called "stickies" in each forum, such as the 14 day induction forum, that will help you, too. And if you don't own the 2002 version of the book, I suggest you find a copy for your very own so that you'll have something tangible to refer to and read. It's really a great investment for your journey with this way of eating for life. http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...-approach.html (BEFORE you begin the Atkins Nutritional Approach...) Dressings? I use Hidden Valley, but that's my preference. You can make your own, too, oil and vinegar with seasons is quick and easy to do at home, I think. You need to drink 64+ ounces of water....nothing else counts. There's more info in the stickies that will better answer your question about how much sugar substitute you can have, etc. Hope that helps direct you to your answer

| You do not have to eat salads every day. You do have to eat vegetables from the list in the Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) pg 125-126. Or find it here http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...induction.html (What foods can be eaten on Induction?) I don't eat salads daily. I like to eat veggies steamed, raw or sauteed. Water is the best thing to drink. It rocks.

| The first time i did this woe, I had a salad every day. Now I found many veggies that I can use to get them in instead of salad. Try going on: www.genaw.com/lowcarb/index.html There are a lot of great recipies on this site. Good luck! Shell

What we do need to have each day on induction is up to 2 cups of veggies that are on the 'Salad vegetables list' plus one cup from the 'other vegetables list' So if you ate 2 cups of cucumbers plus one cup of tomatoes or squash or cabbage (or 1/2 cup of 2 of those which are all listed on the 'other vegetables list') then you are doing fine. And as has been said already, you can eat any of the veggies from either list cooked or raw. Any that cook down to a small amount like spinach need to be measured before cooking them.

| And congratulations on those 6 pounds lost so far ![]() An 'average' amount to lose in the first 2 weeks of induction is often said to be between 5% & 10% of the total amount you want to lose. How many pounds are you aiming at shedding to get to your goal weight? If around 60 pounds you have already lost 10% in only half that time

| I rarely eat my veggies in a salad. I tend to eat them more just as cut up raw vegetables (like veggies and dip without the dip).

| I agree, you don't have to eat salad every day. A half of a cucumber is equivalent to one cup of salad, have it in vinegar if that is how you like it. Squash is great, it is a 'one cup' veggie, so if you eat a cup of squash, your other veggies that day must come from the salad veggie list. Listen, anyone who has not tried sauteed radishes, you will be amazed, they are great. Quarter them and sautee them in a little bacon fat, and throw in a few onion pieces when they are almost done. Think of a glass of Crystal light as a reward. If you get all your 8 glasses of straight water, you can have one!
