| Did you have any diet soda or coffee with sweetners that contain aspartame? I have to tell ya...I know what you are going through, The strange thing is that although the scale hasnt budged I continue to lose inches. I finish induction today and I may continue another week. I have lost 2 inches in my hips and 1 1/2 inches in my waist. My pants fit different in the back end as well. Dont put too much stock in the scale. check out this post: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...n-journey.html (Tidbits from Tabekats Induction Journey.). I think it will help you put it into perspective. It did for me. |

| I don't think you are eating enough carbs. You really need veggies during induction. 2 cups leafy greens. and 2/3 cup other induction friendly veggies... Make friends with cauliflower and Broccoli! Are you close to your period? That will impact your weight due to water retention. measure measure measure.... Atkins works... stay off the scale and you WILL see results if you stick to the plan strictly. Congrats on your sucess so far... and absolutely do not compare your progress to your husbands... men lose differently... they have different body compositions to us the fairer of the sexes (sorry guys)! Keep us posted Kathy |

| Your menu looks fine assuming the calorie total is in the right ballpark. Kat may be correct on lack of carbs -- what was in the pot roast? Your weight can fluctuate by as much as 3-5 pounds a day from uncontrollable things like health, mood, stress, weather, time of day, etc. Stick to a once a week measurement to avoid unnecessary stress!

| I don't have to tell you this as it was repeated over and over again here, but you shouldn't weight daily. Our weight fluctuates, and that's totally normal! But to answer your question, here are my two cents... 5 strip of bacon = 250 mg sodium shredded cheese (0.5 oz) = 60 mg sodium 2 hamburger patties (frozen, not home-made) = 1000 mg sodium 1 hotdog = 400 mg sodium 2 slices of cheese = 240 mg sodium 2 servings italian pot roast = 500 mg sodium (that is if you didn't add sauces, weird spices - I added salt -, etc. which would increase the sodium even more) Total = 2450 mg sodium I know this is not enormous in the US, but in the UK they recommend around 1500-1600 mg. Personally, if I go over 1400 mg I'm screwed. However, this is just water weight and it comes off in no time if you just drink more water and lower sodium. And now the big question I left for the end: WHERE ARE YOUR VEGGIES? Are you eating only meat, cheese and eggs? That's not Atkins, and it's very unhealthy!

| No diet soda for me. I was a HUGE regular coke addict. It was my biggest addiction and I would have anywhere from 4 to 8 of them a day! So, when I decided to do this I figured with the soda it was all or nothing! Thank you for that article. It did put things in perspective for me and I'm in no way ready to throw in the towel. Just a little frustarted I guess... |

| My period is about 8 days away so I don't think it's that. Lack of carbs could be it. I didn't have many at all yesterday. But looking at the sodium run down along with being outside in the heat yesterday could have done it. I'm going to up my water intake today and see what happens and I'm running as fast as I can to walmart to buy a tape measure! Thanks again guys for all of your support! |
