| Now where the heck did I leave my book? can't find it to give you the page number! Dr. Atkins found aspartame to stall many of his patients, and highly discouraged using it. YMMV of course, but Splenda is recommended over aspartame. And limit of 3 servings of sweeteners a day. If you are having Crystal light in all of those waters, you are well over the limit. Water can be an acquired habit, but you will find it to be actually 'tasty' once you acquire it!

| I am still a little confused on this subject as well. The way I read the book is that Dr. Atkins prefers that sucralose(splenda brand) be used. Howver, if aspertame/saccharine is used limit that to 3 packs a day with no limit on sucralose. Either which way, I think it depends on the person as to whether or not they can tolerate artificial sweetners. |

| Page 230, rule 13, you may use up to three packets of Splenda daily. Rule 12, avoid aspartame. On page 128, saccharin is mentioned as safe in moderation, ie. 3 packets a day. Saccharine and aspartame are not the same and saccharin is allowed, aspartame discouraged.

| Crystal light also has fruit solids in it... I don't know all of the details (scientifically) of that, but it seems to sound like a non-allowed item for induction just from the name... ALSO, your 8 glasses of water + 1 cup for every 25 lbs you want to lose is supposed to be pure water.... I'd say try to cut back and then cut it out at least for induction

| You got some great advice here, Tissha. But also I was going to give a heads up about aspartame. Not only is it a staller, but it is a phenylketoneuric which is actually REALLY not good for your body. If you google aspartame, it could teach you about what kind of things it may cause. | Ok, thank you all! I'm going to start weening myself off of the crystal light. I guess that drinking it as much as I was wasn't completely a bad thing since it helped me stop drinking coke. Thanks for all the advice and information!!! |
