Default Feeling wired...

Hey everyone,

So, Ive been adhereing to induction 'strictly' for a while now.. the last couple of days Ive experienced slight head-ache, a feeling of being wired (if that makes any sense) Everything okay with this, will it disappear?

I just wondered about macro breakdown. I know that during induction you dont count calories or look at macros, just keep carbs to a minimium during this phase.
What about OWL - what is the breakdown there? And for Maintenance?

How long have you been on Induction? Typically the "Induction flu" is during the first week and resolves once you are fully in ketosis.

You don't keep "carbs to a minimum" during Induction---you keep them 20 net carbs or slightly lower. During OWL you increase your carbs, stepwise, until you find your Critical Carbohydrate Losing Level. Have you read the book?

Thanks for replying... perhaps it is induction flu, as I knocked myself out of keto once having eaten too much protein powder following the gym (which contains carbs). I know this isnt suggested on AD but I thought I would continue to use it for muscle repair and maintenance. Ive now stopped until I meet or am much nearer my goal weight.

Sorry, I meant to say minimum as in 20g of carbs... but, yes I have read the book which has definately been helpful in understanding the basis of the diet. Thanks again!

Another reason for avoiding protein shakes and eating our nutrients instead of drinking them is that they might make your menus top-heavy in protein unless you add fat alongside them.

Many of us use a programme like www.fitday.com which analyses our food intake to make sure we stick around the 65% fat/30% protein/5% carbs that induciton menus work out to.

Remember, Atkins is a highfat/medium protein/low carb regime, not a high protein one! Excess protein can be converted into glucose according to Dr Atkins!

Ive been using fitday.com for quite a while before I considered and started this approach to eating - an invaluable resource thats for sure!

Since being on AD I have monitored my protein intake and ensured that fat would always be higher. The protein powder that I have is 'save' but still, the banana/coffee sweetness it has drives my insane and I just feel that I cant cope with it at this early stage if im going to be consistent throughout.

Guess its one for ebay or amazon

Thanks for your input!
