| Angie, EVERYONE slips up. Sometimes it happens accidentally (like when I thought it was ok to eat walnuts in induction and polished off two bags in two days before finding out that it was NOT ok). Sometimes it happens by design. I know that I want splurge on Halloween. It is a planned event and I am going to go and eat whatever goodies they have BUT I know that it will take a few days to re-enter Ketosis. Sometimes it happens because of outside factors like your situation. You felt pressured into eating what everyone else was. And just because you look at the boards and see that someone lost 200 pounds in 2 years or 50 pounds in two months doesn’t mean that they didn’t slip up. It does mean that when they had a slip, they got right back, the next meal and went back on track. You have NOTHING to feel bad about. You haven’t failed at anything. You took a pleasant little detour and are now right back on the main Atkins road. Just get back to it, right now! Don’t wait till Monday. Don’t wait till October. Right this second! And no you don’t need to start all over again. Start where you were the meal before you detoured. If you were on rung 3, then you are on rung 3. Look, this is supposed to be a lifestyle change, not a punishment for being fat. Are you a good person? YES Do you have people that like and love you? YES Do you deserve to be healthy and feel good about your physical self? YES YES YES So STOP the PITTY PARTY!! Everyone slips up. Get back on that Atkins horse girl and ride ride ride like the wind. And you will fall off in the future, just like every other person on this forum. And you will get back up and continue on. You CAN DO THIS! You WILL DO THIS! Now GO EAT SOME MEAT!!!

| I was a dinner party last night and everyone there was trying to force feed me ![]() after I ate alot of steak the hostess was talking about the marinade...soy and honey ![]() I'm sure most people have blips just move on...onwards and downwards!

| If and when you are invited out to dinner it is good to find out where you will be going in advance. That way you can browse their on line menus (or phone them if they do not have those) and decide what will be the best choices to make for you. That way you will be prepared in advance and not get flustered and do things you regret after. All restaurants I have been on so far have been very accommodating and I have had a good time. Yes just carry on angie. It will be fine. And congratulations on your birthday!!!!

| I agree wholeheartedly with MsManners! I really believe the feeling of failure is what helps many people fall off the wagon. Really if you think of Atkins as not a diet but a lifestyle change these cheats can really take on a new meaning. I mean I'm 30 and I didn't end up eating the way I do in a day. It took decades to have eating patterns ingrained in me. I realize that I'm not going to be perfect everyday, but I know that its going to take time to break bad habits. Don't beat yourself up, think to yourself when you get off track, this is what I am trying to avoid. Think about how next time how you'll have a response to a person when they ask why aren't you eating that ice cream, or pasta, or cookies. Think about how YOU are going to have control of what you eat, and how you are not going to give it to someone else. It really comes down to control, will you let others control you or will you take control yourself? That's what I had to do. I thought to myself why in the h-e-double hockey sticks am I eating to make someone else happy or make someone else feel comfortable? |

| Down with all that, righteously, and I'll add my 2 cents. You'll see on my ticker I've lost 44 lbs but it's been since 2004 I've been working on it. There have been lots of slip ups, and with practice and self talk I've given myself permission to get back on the horse and ride with pride, immediately, immediately, after my deviations. Brightstar, your comments about how it took years to develop the fat girl eating patterns totally resonate. It will not take me as long to make a new pattern as it did to make the old, bad one...b/c I have finally convinced myself it's a lifetime commitment. There's going to be socializing with food all along the riding trail. I'm going to fall off, it's my human nature. I give myself privilege to fall off, b/c with privilege comes the responsibility, to get back on the horse and ride with pride! Don't start over, go forward! Happy Birthday...

| Thank you so much. I needed a kick in the butt, I feel a lot better with the ''lifestyle'' (not diet) change I am making. You guys have given me support that I don't get from family or friends.I am truly grateful. Angie
