Default Scale obsessed-any feedback?

I can't help but weigh myself twice a day...every morning when I get up and every day when I get home from work. I know this isn't good because it can be discouraging if I were to have a "slow" period of weight loss, but I just can't stop. I even put the scale up in my closet and I still couldn't help myself the next day.

It's hard though, because I am seeing good weight loss each day, so right now it is motivating me...I'm afraid after induction when things slow down that it will end up discouraging me.

I have the same problem. I just started Atkins yesterday and decided not to weigh myself. I become obsessed and discouraged when I don't lose. I will, however, take photos every 1-2 weeks.

yall can help your addiction by joining the Ongoing Scale Free Challenge
you can set your time frame and maybe you could start out with going 2 days without weighing and work your up to 1 week.

I would go CRAZY weighing myself twice a day. I've been told you're at your lowest weight in the morning, and my trainer also told me your weight can go up right after a work out.....I avoid the scale like the plauge after a workout, anytime after I first wake up, and after the weekend. It gets me soooo upset if I do not see good results. Weight changes with retaining water, bathroom issues, and the weight of the food you eat.......I try to give myself time for the weight to go down before weighing.

I now weight myself only on Friday mornings (tomorrow) and am hoping to see some progress.

If you need to, hide it up in a cupboard or something. Take the batteries out and give them to a loved one. I weigh myself once a week and it definitely keeps me sane because I know if I got on the scale every day I would be obsessing and probably getting discouraged by a little water weight. Good luck

I weigh once a day right after the potty when I get up in the morning. If you get a good scale that does quarter pounds, then you are likely to see progress most days. Progress motivates me, and no progress motivates me a LOT.

If you find your moods tied to the scale (and twice a day makes me think they might be), put it away. Aim for once a week until you feel less dependent. Look in the mirror, or your tape measure, or your clothes. Jimmie's mentioned a good challenge to try. During the day, concentrate on how you feel and let that be your reassurance that your WOL is working.

I think it depends on your relationship with the scale. I like to weigh myself a couple times a day, it helps me. Like say i am feeding my kids some french fries (baked not fried) and i am wanting to eat one i go weigh myself to remind me how far i have come and it stops the craving. I also weigh myself before bed, i find that if i am 2 lbs or more than i was in the morning that i will be the same or gain alittle water weight so i can sleep better without being excited about seeing lower numbers and waking up early.

I tried to go a week without weighing myself but I only made it one day without weighing myself. I just started Atkins again after 3 years and having a baby. I am in the first week right now and I know weight loss is generally higher the first couple weeks. I know after the first couple weeks though I'm going to have to stop weighing daily or it's going to so depress me. I lost 60 pounds the last time I was on Atkins and kept most of it off (gained about 8 pounds back) until I got pregnant and gained 50. But the last time whenever the scale went up I felt like a failure and it was easier to cheat during those times. I kept trying to remind myself not to weigh myself daily ... but it's so hard.

I have a very accurate scale and I have to weigh every day (right after I get up after the toilet). I'm still learning what I can and cannot eat so If something is making me gain I can nip it in the bud before it gets out of hand.
