BrightStar your right i'm eating way to few carbs. I really hate eggs and it's hard for me to eat them so I have been eating only 1 in the morning and I know that is no where not enough. I found this recipe where I mix the eggs with cream chese and bake it into something that looks and taste like bread it's delicious and it helps me get in more eggs. The edamame has 2 carbs per 1/4 cup. The susage has 4 carbs The jello has no carbs I did have a physical about 3 months ago and I am anemic actually my iron count is very low. It is a 9 when it should be a 22 so that and to few carbs is killing me. LOL. OK. Ok. I'm realizing now I really gotta make sure i'm getting those 20 carbs cause I didn't even realize it until you brought up the doctor. Thanks for the response.

Edamame or whole soybeans are not on the Induction Acceptable Foods list. In fact, soybeans are legumes and Dr. Atkins specifically said legumes are not allowed during Induction. You aren't eating enough vegetables. Even if you were to count the edamame, you are only eating 1 cup of salad, 1/2 cup of edamame and you don't mention how much zucchini. During Induction, the book says to eat 3 cups of vegetables daily. Please, please, please, read the book and do this diet properly.

Darnit, I thought because edamame had so many proteins I could have it. I do have the book and i'm going to look at it again because it looks like while I have been getting in few carbs and loosing a little weight I haven't really been doing Atkins at all. LOL.

| I agree with not2late that it was sabotage, and self-sabotage at that. I agree that falling asleep is not a good thing, but neither is relenting after 6 days and saying "well, I have to do this, because it's not going to work if I don't." It's six days. Nothing can be successful, nor can any meaningful result be derived in six days. When you give up on something and say well I'll only do this once, then the next time and the next time are just easier and easier. You have to push through this lack of energy until your body shifts itself from one energy source to the other. If you don't, this will never work as a way of life for you. The above post about eating the wrong sort of diet and being "induction friendly" creates some problems for new folks. I would like to see the diet posted for a couple of days as well, because after a few days, when your body begins to burn fat for fuel, you should have infinitely more energy...how do I know...because fat, in any measurable quantity, has three times the energy than carbs/protein...obviously some of this advantage in energy is consumed because it's harder to convert fat into usable energy, but it does create substantially more energy. But that said, the body actually does need some carbohydrate content (er go the 20 grams) to kickstart or generate the process. So you can actually undersupply the carbohydrate balace to the body and in so doing actually short-circuit the fat-burning process. That's why it's important to eat an appropriate number of carbohydrates a day...ideally from lower glycemic sources. It's also possible that the sugar free jello is triggering the body to crave carbohydrates as well. I have that problem if I let myself eat peanuts or peanut butter during periods where I'm trying to get my weight back down if I let it get up by eating outside of what I should be eating. You also seem to be eating a lot of cheese. Ty.

TyCowboy it's cool if you think I was sabotaging, and self-sabotage myself at that. I could bearly keep myself awake and I never have that problem when eating carbs. So I had the ONE pack of oatmeal and got right back on track. But i'm glad I posted about it because I got feedback informing me that I was doing things all wrong and today I went grocery shopping and got some things to help me stay on track and also things that are only on the list from the Atkins website. It is going to be even more difficult but i'm going to stick it out this week and see where the scale goes. I got some eggplant and collards and avocado and i'm looking forward to eating all the other stuff I got along with my different meats. I am going to eat a clean strict diet this week and i'll be posting my menus so that you guys can let me know if i'm doing ok. Thanks for all the feedback.

I know you're not hearing what you want to hear, and I know that it's tough. You never had the problem of being overly tired on carbs? Really?I know a problem you've had while eating lots of carbs. Being heavy. The bottom line is that eating that stuff was an excuse to veer off plan, eat something you knew wasn't on plan, and you used fatigue- which you knew was going to be an issue during induction as the excuse to do it. In doing so, not only did you reset any progress towards ketosis you'd made, you restored you glycogen stores, thereby perpetuating your dependence on the very thing you're trying to gain independence from. There's a reason people here were telling you to hang in there. There are reasons why people who have been on plan for eons told you not to do it. We've been where you are and we know that it's a transient phase. We know that it's a short-lived transient phase. Your body will make the switch from being a carb burning machine to a fat-burning machine, but it can't do that if you get a case of the "Eff-its" and decide that you'll take the easy way out. Success comes to us when we stop giving up what we want most for what we want at the moment. The "easy way out" is what landed you here in the first place, my friend. Megs suggested you re-read the book. TyCowboy seconded the motion. I'm going to give it a big, 3rd. If you know the Induction flu is going to show up and kick you in the butt on or around day 5 or 6, then time it so day 5 & 6 show up on the weekend when you've got some down time. FAILING TO PLAN IS PLANNING TO FAIL!Quote:

Yeah of course i've gotten tired eating carbs before but not exhausted like that, well I guess if I think back to times when I would go crazy on a carb binge I would get exhausted but I don't do that very often. But I am listening to everything everyone said and i'm heeding the advice. That was 3 days ago now and i'm feeling pretty good and eating really good. I will not be eating anymore oatmeal even if i'm super tired and if I fall asleep in front of my students you guys better sub for me. LOL. Serious though I hear you all and I will get past this phase and do well on it. Thanks for all the feedback
