As per some others' suggestions, I'd up the fat a little, exchange some of the ice-berg for a more nutrient dense veggie and try a few days without cheese.
Hang in there and don't lose heart. Sometimes it just takes a little time for weight loss to kick in and other times it's just a little thing that needs tweaking.

Smile Re: Really down over here. Having a very hard time.

You all are so fantastic. It's amazing how uplifting it is to be "here." I'm just logging on today for the first time, and I was so excited to see all of the responses and amazing suggestions. I'm going to follow them to a "t." I'm going to ditch iceberg lettuce as much as possible, and go with 2 cups of a darker veggie like spinach leaves and then have one cup of green beans or asparagus. I'm going to try and limit my cheese to maybe an ounce or two (max) per day or avoid it all together if I can. And some of you mentioned that I may need more fat. I'll throw some butter into my morning eggs for sure.

V was down another pound this morning. I love watching her be so happy with her success. She really deserves it! She quit smoking a year or so ago and has stuck with it, but as a result gained weight. And I so appreciate the story Heavenly Rose wrote about the speed of her weight loss vs. her friend's. V's got more weight to lose than I do. I'd be thrilled if I could lose 20 lbs. V is hoping for more like 30 to 35.

Thank you again for all of the support!!!!

Kristen

Kristin,
I pretty much agree with the others; eat more spinach, romaine, etc. Remember that you and your friend are 2 individual whose bodies are different and that it does take some time for your body to adjust to this new way of eating. Definitely, do add the fat to those eggs!!! Don't you feel sorry for all of those low-cal folks?? We CAN and SHOULD be eating a fair amount of fat.

The one thing that I found to stall me is Splenda. I have severely limited my intake of any artifical sweeteners because eating those foods sweetened with these products just isn't worth the halt in weight loss it produces for me. I'll bet if you're willing to halt the sweetener for a week you will see a difference.

Houston, if all you need to lose is 20 pounds, part of your answer is right there. The less you have to lose, the more slowly it will come off. AND since you don't have a lot to lose, I would suggest not staying long in induction, many folks find 'OWLing' to be just the ticket to get things moving. Especially don't fear that first veggie rung. It will do you a world of good, in my humble opinion.

Default Re: Really down over here. Having a very hard time.

I hear you! My two weeks were up today. I have a moderate ketone read, not cheated once, kept my cheese to the limit, kept my gross carbs to 20g (I am counting overall carbs, not net), kept my splenda usage to twice a week, eaten everything on the approved foods list. The only thing I haven't done (because my daughter was down for a week with a horrible 104 degree fever and flu) was go to the gym. In 2 weeks, I have gone to the gym 3 times. Each time, I have done 45 minutes on the treadmill (hills and steeps) and burned 300 calories each time.

I have drank more than the 64 daily ounces of water, have been taking my fiber and everything else I am supposed to do!!!!!

Frustrated when I stepped on the scale and saw...NOTHING.

Ah, and I am not just talking weight wise. My clothes fit the same way. I am eating more than I ever had before, so I feel I am getting more of a gut.

Maybe I need to count calories as well? People have been saying that calorie counting isn't necessary, but now I wonder....

PLEASE...anyone has gone through this? Help!!!

Sincerely,

Ready to throw in the towel....

Caribe, rather than counting calories, you must follow your appetite. If you overeat, you'll gain. The trick is to eat to satisfy your hunger, no more, no less. If you're eating according to the Atkins plan and not gorging, it'll happen.

Thank you for your suggestion. Hopefully by the end of week three I will see some weight loss. I am hoping for the "woosh" everyone keeps talking about . BTW, it must be hard maintaining your eating plan with all that good pasta in Italy. OMG, I couldn't do it!

For what it's worth, I agree with what's been said here. Your fat intake looks pretty low at first glance, and I would ditch the tomato...I know it's on the other vegetables list, but I have had some stalling/bad experience with it, and a friend of mine likewise had to ditch it. I would also ditch the splenda and the onions. Just again, from my own experience.

Ty.

One reason I like FitDay is because it taught me that I was eating TOO FEW calories. And I was going into starvation mode. For me I am suppose to eat 1600-1750 calories to lose weight. I was eating around 1100-1200. I also like that it tells me what percentage of fat I am eating. So if my daily menu looks too light on something I can make up for it. This might be something to try even just for a week so you can get the proper ratios. I use a 65%fat/25%protein/5%carb ratio, sometimes a little higher on the fat, and a little less on the protein. And remember if you have a stubborn metabolism it might take awhile to fix it. That is what is happening to me, but I am not giving up, nor should you. Best of luck.

Well, I had over 25 years of pasta, so you could say I ate my fill! Actually, I don't miss it at all really, there are so many other wonderful foods here in Italy. I rarely eat pasta substitutions nowadays (shiritaki and dreamfields) and then mainly to fit in with family "occasions".

It's amazing how ones tastes change over a period of time... I wouldn't have believed it, yet it happened!
