| I was addicted to sweets but after the first few days my cravings for them really subsided. In fact my appetite has diminished but I am making sure I should be eating even if I don't feel hungry. |

| When I was a newbie here, the Mods and old-timers used to say "starve your sweet tooth", because feeding the sweet tooth with low carb alternatives only leaves you craving/wanting more. And low carb junk food, is still junk food.

| Why not start with some nice hot broth, (add to list), perhaps butter, cream, some mayo, spices (if you need), celery w/ cream cheese, chicken soup is good too (no noodles unless shirataki); and a good multi (w/o iron) & minerals, and some rest.... Welcome, & looking forward to seeing you around the board. Feel better soon! |

| You can also get some L-Glutamine. Atkins recommend taking some if you have problems with sugar cravings. As everyone says starving those sugar cravings is the best thing to try for those 14 days of induction.

| If you can make it through 3 days on the introductions your cravings with decrease. Sometimes when I want a "sweet" I have cream cheese on something, for some reason I fill like I am indulging. And although not every agrees, the Atkins bars have saved me from time to time. I actualy cut them in half and eat just a half when I want a sweet. I think it is the idea of having chocolate == but not really.

| I second - or is it third (LOL) the idea of starving your sweet tooth as the first strategy - eating a highfat savoury snack instead of a sweet one can often teach your sugar monster that it will be fed but with food you choose to eat! Some people find that having something sour - pickle with no sugar in the ingredients for example - does the trick for them. After a while of no sweet 'treats' your taste buds might find red peppers (bell peppers) or celery or even brocolli tastes sweet! Mine did.
