| Not sure about the fever but yeah the first few days sucks really bad. Your body is changing and doesn't want it to happen. I had bad cravings, feeling weird on the whole first week. After the second week, you'll feel normal again depending on your body. Don't worry, most people feel bad at first but just stick with it and you'll feel normal again.

| The fever most probably is not related to Atkins.

| I've seemed to have the exact opposite reaction. I was fine the first week but got this dang headache on day 9. It went away after day 11. I have noticed that I tend to have to go to the restroom (#1) a lot. I mean a lot! I drink a gallon of water a day and seem to get rid of a gallon and a half! I felt different on day 9 and that was the day my keto-stip turned its darkest shade of lavendar yet. I guess I'm on the right track! Yay! I'm very satisfied with the results so far (15 pounds in 11 days) and haven't felt deprived once. I've been following a zero carbs approach. What's funny is that I'm eating beef, chicken, eggs and cheese pretty much everyday. I drink a pot of coffee and and about a gallon of water each day. I don't miss the carbs really. It really is an eye opener how much of our diets were based around breads, pastas and other processed carbs. I noticed my weights workout today was a little tougher than normal but I was able to get through it without busting my hump. Later - |

| Atkins isn't zero carb, I guess you know that? We eat a minimum of 3 cups of vegetables a day. You would still lose and feel better if you ate some veggies!

| That's completely normal. It happens to me as well haha. Whenever I drink water, I tend to pee straight away. I think it doesn't want to add any water weight to your body. I had the same experience.

| Fever and chills aren't a part of the "Induction flu" or carb withdrawals. So see a doctor. As for the zero carb approach, as Mom said, that's not Atkins. Atkins isn't a meat, cheese and egg only diet. So please read the book and do Atkins the proper way. If you still choose to do a "zero carb" approach, please do not call it Atkins because it's not..

| Definately real flu. I woke up all night either chilled to the bone or drenched in sweat. That's fine, I'll get better. Maybe with the timing though, I am simultaneously going through the carb withdrawals. Some of the responses are confusing, maybe if responders used quotes when they respond. I thought someone was accusing me of trying to go zero carb, until i read up. I am deep in ketosis this morning, I am the dark purple. I am not craving carbs at all, I have always enjoyed my veggies anyway. My craving is coffee, which I have yet gotten to the store for stevia or splenda, so I'm out of luck until I feel better. |

Thanks. The book I have is his original he put out in 1973. He recommends to cut carbs to the bone for the first two weeks. So that's what I've been doing. Then add a cup of salad greens up to 2 cups a day. Then it reads to add carbs by (I think it said) 5 grams at a time each day and check the keto stick until it no longer turns purple. Then dial back the carbs until you see you are back in ketosis. If I didn't think I needed the salad greens just to keep regular I probably wouldn't eat them. I don't like vegitables that much. I've always taken a vitamin suppliement. Everything seems to be working fine, I'm not often hungry and feel good like he said I would in his book. I just won't eat fish. yuck. ![]() Cimmbasso |
