Default New to Atkins...please help!

Hi all,

This is my first post and I just joined, though I've been lurking for a while. You all seem like such helpful people, I'm hoping I can get some help. I'm new to Atkins, began induction on October 8th and I've been having some massive side effects. I sort of stopped the induction after the 12th day (Sunday), as the side effects were worsening. Also, my weight loss goals aren't too aggressive (only 15-20 lbs), and I feared damage to my body.

I was in Ketosis until Monday night, when I ate carbs to intentionally stop the process.

Here's what's going on: I've been fine up until about Saturday, when I started developing a very bad rash between my, er, bum cheeks (sorry to be so graphic...not such how to describe it in a cleaner way). Sunday night was pure agony. I can't sleep, it hurts to walk or move and its terrible. I've been putting a ton of OTC creams on it to soothe the itching and burning, but nothing is working. I'm at my wits end.

I've been told by people who have experience in this realm that it is just my body's way of eliminating toxins, since I've been living healthier, my body is just purging all of the unhealthy toxins that have been in me so long.

I need to know, how do I fix this rash and go about my life again. Its been 3 days of torture. Is this normal? I've been reading about Candida, and fear that that could be part of the issue, but I don't know.

Anyone have any idea what's going on?

Not exactly sure, but perhaps you had a reaction to too abrupt a systemic change... Just a guess, but had you been getting your full 20 g's of carbs in and eating liberally of induction foods, (2-3 cups veggies from the list, plus meats and fats, per the list in DANDR)? Also, were you drinking LOTS of water? Have you had multi vitamin and mineral supplements??

You should have been eating veggie carbs all along and drinking lots of water. Sometime if individuals eat an unusual amount of protein, they can have "loose stools" and that can cause a rash.

My suggestion is that you discuss it with a physician since no one here is licensed to diagnose.

It may be helpful for you to post your menus for review to determine if it is the balance of protein, fat and carbs contributing to this issue.

No reaction like that here....have tried this a few times...sorry...I would talk to a Dr --maybe they will say this is "common" or at least happens with SOME people....

Is your skin normally sensitive..??

Sorry...
