Default Extreme headache!

I know about induction flu,but does anyone know the biological reason for the headaches when you cut the carbs? I've been keeping up the caffine intake to avoid that pain, yesterday was the first clean day I've had with out carbs and this morning I woke up with a crazy headache.I ended up eating a toaster strudle , and a glass of tea and the headache was gone in 20 minutes. Is there any way to get around this ? I'm honestly afraid of headaches because they normally turn into migranes that will put me in bed all day. Is there any way to cheat the body while getting clean? I feel like a food druggie.

I think it has to do with the change in chemistry and also the detox process. When I had a headache/induction flu, I got rid of it by exercising and sweating it off and drinking tons of water. Also took some Motrin... I felt better in no time. Hang in there.

Try taking some aleive, that works pretty good at diminishing the headache but it was always still there. it will be gone in a couple of days.. try to resist the hot tea/carbs. When I got that headache the first time i thought i was going to die... it scared me that I could be addicated to something that severely. made me want to stay away from that stuff.

I know, if withdrawl from carbs is this bad I hate to think of what people go through with smoking ,drinking, and the other stuff!
Its pretty wild even feeling sick to my stomach drinking water when starting off compared to sweet tea.Its the lack of sugar. But once eating clean I can't get enough ice water due to the meat diet being a diuretic.

Doesn't it make you realize how addictive sugar is? And what a powerful effect is has?

Quitting smoking is no fun at all.

That being said, I think the sugar thing is much harder to kick for most people. It's just in so many things, in so many forms, and for many of us it's just such a strong trigger!

Yes it does! Last time I got Clean(from carbs) ,I became so hyper and fidgety I sought help for anxiety. The meds started messing with my intestines so I quit ,did alot of soul searching and self help, cleaning issues out of my life ,but I noticed when stressed that sugar has the same calming (sedative ) properties as the sertraline .I guess cigarettes are the same for other people.
I'm not a drinker even a social one really but months ago I started buying wine coolers (smirnolf ice) to help me relax in the evenings, well that was till I noticed they had over 2oo cal per bottle ,they didn't have much more effect on my body than fudge bars or ice cream in the way of making me relax. So the ice cream won out over the wine coolers. Well till now ........I guess I have to bite the bullet and be ill for a few days because I have to watch the amount of tylenol and ibuprofin I take more than two per day causes my intestine to bleed...I've seen the doctor about it before,I'm just very sensitive to drugs and changes to my diet and life.

Hi, I'm new too. I just went through the migraine episode yesterday. It was my day one and I didn't have any sugar or caffeine. I normally drink a pot of coffee before lunch. My migraine was soo severe. I'm in the military and work at a hospital. Well, I had duty yesterday and was sooo tempted to just go to the ER to be sent home. But, it was a slow day and I didn't want to have someone else give up their Sunday to cover for me. I also avoided giving into the caffeine and sugar. I was so stubborn I wouldn't even take Excedrin. So, I took three doses of 800mg Advil liquid gels throughout the day. Unfortunately, I threw up twice. So, I'm not sure how effective they were. But, I was also able rest. I don't know about you, but when I have a migraine I get extremely light and sound sensitive.

Anyway, yesterday really sucked. But, I made it through and I'm snacking on some hard boiled eggs as I write this.

Good luck! You can do it! It may not be easy, but the payoff will be great.

I feel for ya, things get crazy in those military hospitals.I had my second child in the Naval hospital in Portsmouth,Va. Yes, I do get sensitive to light and sound when I have the migraines. All I want to do is stay in a dark room with cool sheets and a pillow over my head. Today 11/10/08 I decided when I woke up not to touch any sugar or caffeine, so far so good.
Hope your feeling better this morning !
