| How about a gradual withdrawal. I used to drink buckets of coffee and I did not quit just like that but I gradually added more decaf to my coffee till I was all decaf. It worked for me. Now I am trying to cut down on my decaf.

| Yeah i agree with Liv.. Caffine will kick your butt if you quit cold turkey... Try to work yourself off .. make some half caff. then work your way from half caff to decaff... Good luck ... |

| In the additctions section I wrote about my ordeal when I gave up caffeine cold turkey. A 2 day migraine followed, and I felt terrible for 4 or 5 days. Been caffeine free for over a month now. Never thought I would see the day I could go without caffeine.

| Hi wantoolose, I understand COMPLETELY!!! I was in the habit of 5-6 cups just in the morning and 1 or 2 in the afternoon. What I did was take a cup that was 1/2 the size of my favorite cup - ONLY drink 4 of those in the morning (which was really TWO full cups) and none in the afternoon. It's working for me. I guess I'm easily mind-tricked but at least I am cutting down. I'll go "half-caff" NEXT week using the same method so eventually I'll be down to no-caff!! It's a DRUG, it's a DRUG, it's a DRUG. I have the slight headache to prove it!!! |

| My good friend said I should change religions when I complained to her once that I couldn't quit coffee...no matter what. Needless to say, I couldn't give up my coffee or change my religion.

| I'm gonna have to try that, but I didnt think you were allowed to drink coffee. So I would stay on the diet for 2-3 days, cave in and drink coffee and take a week or more to return to the diet. It sucks cause I only have 25 pounds to go till I hit my goal of 220, but I cant seem to stay on for some reason. Can I use half and half as a replacement for Milk?? I know I have to use Splenda instead of regular sugar. I really want to hit my goal bu this last 25 pounds seems to be the mosr difficult to lose |

| As half/half has half milk and half cream you should leave it till you reach the 2nd rung of OWL. Try plain cream instead.

2. Atkins is a way of life, not just a "diet"...think of it more as a change in your eating habits for life. Sure there's tough times, but once you follow the plan as Dr. A suggested, you know what works best. 3. Basically, don't "cave"....just do.
