Sugar free jello is actually a no-no on induction. I believe it has aspartame in it which you do not want to consume during induction as it will stall your weight loss. Also you want to stay away from the bars as those will also stall your weight loss during induction. Someone today suggested cream cheese and celery to me which I believe is okay as I've seen several other people mention it on this site. Not exactly sweet, but legal Stick with it though and best of luck!

I was in your position during my second day of induction. What helped me more than anything was a cup of coffee with fresh whipping cream and a tspn of splenda. I think I was in caffeine withdrawal in addition to sugar!!

I'd avoid the Atkins bars until the higher rungs of OWL! Only the newer versions of DANDR allow them, stick to the other foods on the allowed list. Try this recipe for Cinnamon Buttons (Frosty Creamy Cinnamon Buttons), it's helped me with cravings before. I also like to put a tablespoon of heavy cream in the bottom of a glass and fill the rest with some Diet Rite soda - it's like a melted ice cream float.

There are tons of other great ideas in the Recipes forum - just make sure all the ingredients are induction-friendly. Good luck, and stay strong!

Oh, those sound good! I'd think if you wanted a warm treat, just eat it once it is mixed up. Sometimes I will warm some cream cheese and add a bit of baking cocoa, splenda and a little vanilla.

I'm sorry that you are suffering with your sweets craving!!! It can be very painful! I would have killed for bread or pasta during that first few weeks!!! My understanding of Atkins is that insulin reacts to substitute sugar ALMOST as aggressively as real sugar, so maybe not rely on fake sugar to get you through?

Meditation and visualization got me through that period. I sat in my comfortable chair and checked in with my body. Usually, I realized that I was stressed and resorting to some carb food to calm me down. For me, when I realized how I was using food to cope with stress, it made it a little easier to commit to Atkins, and give up the unhealthy option.

I think the only way to cure or curb cravings for sweet things is to stop eating anything sweet.

Many of us have managed to starve our sugar monster by not feeding it during induction but eating a highfat or sour snack like a pickle instead when the cravings rear their ugly heads.

Hi all,

I agree with the idea of starving the craving away. Its an addiction and just like any addiction the best way to kill it is to starve it away. If you start trying to only feed it a little bit with substitutes you may keep trying to add more and more which may put you off the plan because you keep adding more and more.

You have goals, what you need to decide is what you are at times willing to sacrifice to achieve them. It may be a good thing to get rid of your sweet tooth now, so you can concentrate on achieving your goal without the sweet tooth always whispering in your ear.

Good luck,

cani

I agree that it's best to starve your sweet tooth now because after awhile, you won't ever miss the them at all. And that's when you will realize that sweets have been the reason you couldn't stop eating when you knew you didn't want to eat anymore. You will have conquered your never ending appetite! 'Sweet' is your enemy!!
