| No, cooking a food does not increase its carb count, although it might shrink its volume (e.g. 1 cup of cooked spinach is much more than 1 cup of loosely packed raw spinach). Going back to celery... The reason Fitday shows that huge number of carbs for "Celery, cooked" is that it assumes you are using a standard recipe. At our university canteen for example, they add broth and maple syrup to it. But if you are cooking a meal yourself, just enter separately the raw ingredients you are using.

| I always use raw with Fitday. Sometimes their cooked things really are spacy.

| My scariest moment with Fitday was a 4oz cooked onion coming out at...........wait for it ( drum roll) 25.6 g of carbs!!!! scared me rigid! absoloutely sure it is not right ![]() Ciao xx |

| I never did Elizellen maybe it has a high natual sugar content or something! but even on that great list ( sorry I can't remember who did it) with foods listed & colour coded for all stages of Atkins, 1 cup ( 160g) of Onion came out at 13 grams so I guess they are just naturally high in carbs. Shame because I love onion ![]() Ciao xx |

| Yes onions are carby. On induction I used green onions to get the carb count down.

| Along with what Liv suggest. Leeks are another low glycemic/low carb choice along with the green onion.
