Exclamation Is the food I'm eating now messing me up?!

Hey, what's up? I've been on Aktins for one full day now, and I'm wondering if the food I'm eating is going to stall me.

My mom bought a ham, and cooked it, but it had a few 4g of sugar in it, I think it's wasteful to just not eat it because she made it for me, but I did tell her to not put any sweet glaze on it. I use it in my eggs and salad mostly. I do have other meats I could eat but I was wondering if I could still have it. I also got some Tyson's ready made bacon for it was the only one I could find that did not list sugar or anything in it. Does anyone know if this brand of bacon is ok.

Also, while I never saw any stalls while drinking the Atkins shakes, when I was on the diet before, I will try and not use them. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas for induction-friendly shakes. I saw on sugarfreesheila.com a few shake ideas. One was made with Nature's Best perfect zero carb isopure-Cookies & Creme flavor. Here's all the stuff in it:

Other Ingredients: freeze dried strawberry powder, Artificial Flavor, Xanthan Gum, Silicon Dioxide, Sucralose, Ion-Exchange Whey Protein Isolate, FD&C Red #3, Vitamin, Mineral and Amino Acid Blend (Dicalcium phosphate, Potassium Chloride, Magnesium Oxide, Ascorbic Acid, dl-alpha Tocopheryl Acetate, Chromium Amino Acid Chelate, Sodium Chloride, Zinc (as Zinc Sulfate), Molybdenum (Amino Acid Chelate), Biotin, Niacin, Copper (Amino Acid Chelate), Potassium Iodide, D-Calcium Pantothenate, Silicon Dioxide, Vitamin A Palmitate, Vitamin K-1, Manganese Sulfate, Folic Acid, Pyridoxine HCl, L-Glutamine, Taurine, Thiamin HCl, Riboflavin, Vitamin B-12)
Aspartame Free, Fat Free, Lactose Free

-It has 0g carbs, there is another shake idea using davinci or atkins syrup with sounds a little bit better for induction. If anyone knows if these would be ok for phase one please let me know.

One more thing, any interesting vege ideas besides a salad, I find tham boring already.
Thanks!

No need for food to be boring! Here is a link to a fabulous recipe site~~

Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes - Home

Do you have a copy of Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution~2002 version? There is an extensive list of veggies that are allowed. If you don't have a copy pick one up & read it! In the meantime here is a link to the veggie lists.

I am not a fan of any kind of shakes. Home made is probably ok, you can control what goes in it, but any prepackaged shake or bar is garbage.

They just put some many crappy ingresdients in them to make them able to sit on a shelf for 2 years. And then sugar alcohol to make them sweet. In my humble opinion, sugar alcohol is terrible. I have terrible reactions to it in my gut.

many people fail on this plan by relying on prepackaged foods, shakes, and bars. They just don't work like real food.

Do I want some strawberries and cream or do I want:
Other Ingredients: freeze dried strawberry powder, Artificial Flavor, Xanthan Gum, Silicon Dioxide, Sucralose, Ion-Exchange Whey Protein Isolate, FD&C Red #3, Vitamin, Mineral and Amino Acid Blend (Dicalcium phosphate, Potassium Chloride, Magnesium Oxide, Ascorbic Acid, dl-alpha Tocopheryl Acetate, Chromium Amino Acid Chelate, Sodium Chloride, Zinc (as Zinc Sulfate), Molybdenum (Amino Acid Chelate), Biotin, Niacin, Copper (Amino Acid Chelate), Potassium Iodide, D-Calcium Pantothenate, Silicon Dioxide, Vitamin A Palmitate, Vitamin K-1, Manganese Sulfate, Folic Acid, Pyridoxine HCl, L-Glutamine, Taurine, Thiamin HCl, Riboflavin, Vitamin B-12)
Aspartame Free, Fat Free, Lactose Free

I'll take the strawberries and cream....

This a great time to re acquainted with real food. The way it was meat to be eaten - not super processed with added chemicals. Recipes will be your friend. Do check out Linda's page that Glenda posted. There is also a great thread here with plenty of recipes:
http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...n-recipes.html (Never ending induction recipes)

I am not saying convenience food cannot be OK to have - but too many people have come to really rely on those for all their nutrients.

As for shakes - whey is dairy - so wait till rung two to introduce it. Strawberries (even if they are dried) are allowed on rung 4.

Welcome to ADBB and good luck with your losses.

Thanks for the advice, I tried to make my own today, but it made me kinda sick. After drinking that, I think I will just stick to real food! So, is the ham okay to eat then?

Difficult to say without knowing the quantity of ingredients used - I would avoid it if it tasted sweet to me.
