Default Love Fitday, Hate Fitday :)

Ok, so I finally discovered FITDAY today. I hate it...and I love it. The pie chart is incredibly motivating. Yup. Especially when I see that I ate 30 carbs Today :no

Yup, motivating....Do I get to subtract the paltry 4 grams of fiber from this 30g of carbs?

Between carbs and my TOM (Good morning!!) I can see why the scale hasn't moved. UGH!!!

:tounge

ps- thanks for all the support from everyone. I really do love Fitday, and the ha

Yes, you do subtract the fiber from the total carbs to get your net carbs. :yes

I understand the love/hate thing too, but now, you can look down your list of foods for the day, doublecheck that you have the quantities right, and see where you are getting your carbs from, and where you can adjust it if necessary.
You've read the sticky about it, and know about the ratio of 65%fat, 30%protein, 5%carbs? It's so helpful to see where you're at and where you need to go. :ThumbsUp

Great idea for a poll, Love it Hate it. Personnally I hate it and love it also. Sometimes the choices just make me mad. First of all my spelling is so poor so when I search for something, I can't find it. Or the measurements are crazy. Heavy cream, why can't it measure heavy cream in something other than an ounce. I haven't a clue how many Tablespoons are in an ounce. But then, once you do get the foods in there, its so easy and a glance will tell you what your getting.

I am also of a divided opinion.
I feel accountable (obliged) to enter everything in it, but sometimes I hate seeing the results.

Yesterday, for instance, I had a little piece of potato (yes, I'm in that phase). I hated it when the carbs spiked drastically once I put the statistics into fitday. However, it's a good reminder that everything makes a difference in the whole picture.

Default Fitday! thanks!!

Thanks for all the coll responses. Today, I see that I am half and half as far as fats/protein, so i have to bump the fats up a bit.

Like I said, Love Fitday, Hate Fitday, and yes, the interface is a little obtuse. For instance, I wanted to enter turkey cutlet. Nope. no such animal. So, It became turkey breast, but the most of the choices say "skin included", which I did not. So.....Then we tried Louis Rich brand turkey, and got "one serving" as a portion choice. What is a serving? Finally found something that had portions in ounces, and I used that.

You can customize a food if you want. For example, you eat Louis Rich turkey slices. You can enter the nutritional values for it---just copy the information off the label. That way you don't have to keep guessing and looking for the food.

I only use fitday to figure carbs out for recipes I'm double checking, creating or tweaking to lower the carbs. So I have a number of customized foods in my account.

I usually track my carbs with a notebook, pen and a carb counter book. Less aggravation imo.

I'm doing similar, but on the computer.

A simple text file is my notebook, and I'm using nutritiondata.com instead of a carb book, but it is the same basic thing.
