Default Induction Cookie disaster - funny

Ok, funny to me anyways. I've been crazy to try the flax cookie mentioned in "recipes". i ran out, got the flax meal, came home and mixed the ingredients. Ran out of butter, so I used trans-fat free margarine (mistake #1). Also, forgot to add the water mentioned in the recipe (mistake # 2). Left it in the microwave until it smoked (mistake #3). BTW, I suspect that its very important to use butter because (and of course, I remembered this as the smoke was coming out of the microwave), the solids in the butter helps keep the cookie together, (mine was a burnt crumble).

The house smells of burnt cookies. Oh, well, will try again tomorrow when I am awake (and have the WRITTEN recipe nearby....

Hi YewTree, :wave

No Margarine! Bad girl!

Sorry to hear about your cookie disaster - If it makes you feel any better although I love the morning (I get up at around 5am) but pretty much brain dead until 10ish so I do things like the following

1) For the past few days Ive been taking my dogs Thyroid medicine by mistake, no bad side effects...except I keep wanting to lift my leg to pee

2) I put on ankle weights to do my workout, forgot to take em' off and walked around till noon wondering why my legs felt so heavy. It's a good thing I didn't weigh myself I would put on ten pounds!

Well, Peter - two things:

If you still have the ankle weights on when you lift your leg to pee, think of the exercise you'll be getting!!

How's the dog doing on your medicine (I'm presuming a swap took place).

I've had a few disasters or omitted ingredients in my baking history, both original and low carb versions. My largest errors came when I first tried to make bread for my hubby - absolutely like rocks. Even the birds fell out of the sky after trying to eat it.

Actually, it's the water that hold the flax cookie and wafer together. When you add liquid to flax, the flax becomes gooey. It's the goo that holds the flax together. If you don't add enough water to make the goo, the stuff will turn granola dry and will burn quicker. You really don't need to add any fats to the flax because it has a very high fat content to begin with and the flax wafer/cookie will fry rather than dry out if too much added fat is used. I was the one who developed the microwave flax wafer recipe and the fatless microwave flax sweet wafer recipe.

Here's the original. The other microwave flax cookie/cracker recipes are variations on it.

Default Thanks to everyone!

Thanks for the stories everybody. Peter, you are too funny!!

Thanks to Megs for the link to the original recipe. I will try it tonight. I like a CRISPY cookie. None of this, "soft-baked" crap for me.

Thanks,
Yewtree
