Default My induction results **Sigh**

Well, the results are in. I've lost 6 pounds. I should be happy, but nope. I'm disappointed. I see people who weight less than me losing much more weight in the 1st two weeks. Sigh.....I've lost more weight on other programs....However....

My insomnia seems to be gone, I've lost my apetite (generally), and I'm eating less calories. Before, it wa s struggle to eat less than 2500 calories a day. Now, I eat between 900-1500 no problem.

What I've learned:
*I need to eat more veggies especially early in the day. Veggie omelettes, here I come.
*More water. Yes, I drink at least 64, but honestly, I need more.
*Time for exercise.

Thanks for all of your help, you beautiful people :hug

Congrats on your loss.

6 pounds is great! Don't ever be sad at the amount of poundage or inches you've lost. Just remember, that's one pound/inch closer to your goal numbers.

In the time I've been on this WOE, I've learned that weight loss is a side effect of the real purpose of this WOE---good health. Many of us have experienced signs of good health including lower cholesterol, lower blood pressure, better diabetes control, improved asthma (that's me), increased physical endurance, etc. It's the improved quality of my general health that keeps me on this WOE, eventhough I'm a slow loser. Fitting into smaller clothes is fine, but this diet has also given me much more.

:wave Yewtree!

That is fantastic, don't despair! You know, the average weight loss on Atkins is 6-13 lbs after induction, so you made the mark! Some people do more (I did) and some people do less. If you have been reading post regularly, yeah, some people who weigh less than you lost more during induction. But you know what? Now a lot of them have slowed waaay down or stalled altogether, so losing fast is not all its cracked up to be. I am worried because of my big loss, I might be in for the same but I will stick with it all the same. You have done really well and you should really be happy of how far you have come! :nod Plus, your body is not the same as anybody; maybe your body feels better losing smaller amounts at a time. I do agree though, if you haven't been exercising, you really should. I think that is why mine was so good; because I started exercising the end of the first week. Go back and look at what you have been eating and see if you can make improvements. Make sure you get in the right fat ratio because if you don't get enough fat, you can also not lose much or stall, also. You know, 6 pounds may be small but you know, I have 228 lbs to lose and to me, I would have given anything 1 month ago just to lose one pound. It really depends on your perspective; you could have gained instead of loss or still be eating the way you were before and not feeling healthier. Cheer up, sweetie! :hug You never know what your next week may hold; maybe the Whoosh Fairy will pay you a better visit! I am still proud of you for the 6 you lost.

Perhaps the fact that you are eating only 900-1500 calories is the culprit. You CAN eat on this WOE!! I always found that the more calories I consumed the more I lost (within reason of course). For example, when I started I was staying between 1500-1800 calories per day and I weighed less than you. During times when I consumed 2000-2300 calories, I found significantly more weight loss. Don't starve your body, it will have the opposite effect than the one you are looking for.

Congrats on the 6lbs though! That is nothing to sneeze at! Keep up the work and try eating a bit more!

Thanks to everyone for the wonderful tips.

Megs, I do feel that my health has improved.
JuJu - congrats on your weight loss, and yes, I do need to start exercise...
Higgies - I eat so little because I've lost my apetite....UGH!! I never thought that would be a bad thing. How can I get more calories in? Are there "induction" shakes? ensive

Thanks, Again.

Yewtree - can you list everything you eat for a couple of days including amounts and any fat you use too and post it in the 'review my menu' forum. Read the sticky on that forum first to make sure you post it the best way)
Or if you use www.fitday.com post a message there with the link to your account (you will need to scroll down the home page at fitday and click on 'make my account public' to get a link that will let people see your details) so people can see just what you are eating each day and suggest ways of improving it.

Also it helps people who respond to questions if everyone puts some details in their signature of how much weight they want to lose, how heavy they are now, how tall they are and what gender - look at the figures in my sig to see what I mean.
It stops embarrassment like when I suggested someone might have gained weight because of TOM (time of the month) and found out HE was a bloke :yikes etc.

{{{Yew}}} Yew are blessed! You still lost in induction, even if it wasn't quite what you'd hoped. You have a titch slower metabolism perhaps, but with exercise and sticking to plan, you'll be so skinny you'll have to run around the shower just to get wet!

Don't forget too, even if you didn't lose as much as you wanted in lbs, you've probably lost in inches which makes a big difference. But don't lost hope, keep at it

since you need to start exercise you were not doing Atkins during the last 14 days because Dr Atkins says in chapter 15 of DANDR if you are not exercising you are not doing my program so get that exercise going ans see what happens when you are doing Atkins. you have already seen the great results just changingyour food gives now see how the whol program works.

You are welcome to join the TDL exercise challenge in the CC forum if you'd like. it is an ongoing weekly setting of exercise goals based on your ophysical ability.
Happy low carbing.
