Default Hate or Love to cook? become a chef in no time!

Hi Folks, :wave

Some of us love cooking and some of us would rather have gum surgery than deal with cooking.

If you hate to cook, or feel your menu is limited there a few things you might consider adding to your kitchen - as well as just some general tips. I hope you'll add a few of your own too!

FLAVOR - KICK IT UP A NOTCH
  • *Keep plenty of spices and herbs on hand, try new ones..spend a few minutes in front of the spice display at the market and have fun - always have Oregano, Basil, and Rosemary on hand.

    * Use plenty of Extra Virgin Olive Oil - most all the EVOO brands are great so just buy what's on sale.

    * Flavor your oil with garlic and herbs, lemon zest

    * White vinegar works as a flavor enhancer just like alcohol does, add a little to sauces and any place you think it shouldn't go!...you'lll be surprised at the flavor, just remember a little goes a long way

*Kosher or coarse sea salt is a must, it has a better flavor and is easier to manage when seasoning

    * Never buy or use salted butter, salted butter is the equivalent to cooking wine, not that we can have wine on Induction but any chef will tell you "If you can't drink it - don't use it" But and use sweet cream butter is has a lovely sweet flavor you wont get with salted

    * Add butter right at the end of whatever your cooking it adds flavor, body and a nice sheen to sauces.

    *Crack your own pepper

    * Season your chickens under the skin, it's easy all you do pull the skin up a bit working you fingers between the underside of the skin and the meat. mix your spices with a little olive oil and with a teaspoon put a the mixture under the skin, rub the rest on top of the chicken. The reasoning is the skin keeps things out..by seasoning under the skin you'll add an amazing amount of flavor to the meat

    * Keep a Gazzilion heads of garlic on hand!

    * But fresh parsley and herbs whenever you can

    * Grow your own chives!

APPLIANCES THAT MAKE A DIFFERENCE
  • * A hand blender, you've seen these, long stick shaped things - some have multiple attachments. They're a hand help food processor and if you don't have one? Get one. You'll wonder how you lived without one.

    * The ShowTime Rotisserie - in one word, fantastic! if you can't boil water you can still turn out the most mouth watering poultry, beef, lamb and fish. A snap to use and easy to clean. If in doubt as I was, read the reviews on www.epinions.com or www.amazon.com
it's fast, the food is unbeliavbley good and clean up is a snap

    * Use the best cookware you can afford

The more you experiment, the more fun you'll have and the more sensational meals you'll turn out.

Bon Appetit!
