Assalamualaikum~ I have been doing Low Carb for some time and still searching/planning on starting Atkins "seriously" I know that this is the best for my body, but I'm still convincing my mind to go along with it and retrain my "habits"! I am 5'9" as well but weigh in at about 384lbs. Something that may help you in your journey is to look over the last 2 years and see where you let yourself go. Maybe to busy so you choose the wrong foods, possibly family gatherings or cultural foods ... come up with some alternatives to eat. My DH is from Morocco so they eat ALOT of bread, but I just eat the chicken without the bread, also the same... If invited for couscous then I just eat the allowed veggies and meat.. leave the grain behind. Possibly this is what you can do with some of the rice dises. It is nice to meet you and the people on this board is very nice. They have all kinds of answers to your questions. Welcome ~Amanda

Walaikumassalam Amanda.. thank u so much for the reply... i do come from a background that depends a lot on rice and bread unfortunately, my family also has a weakness for sweets and that's one area where i'll have a little problem.. but i am trying my best to come up with alternatives.. dat other day for example i tried making ice cream with butter and ice chips.. it dint go too well (i got the sachharin wrong and it turned bitter i guess in past i had trouble staying focused.. when i was focused i remained healthy.. managed to exercise even under really difficult circumstances.. but when i lost focus, i wud even laze about in my holidays.. and i guess that's why i have decided to start a weight loss diary and post everyday once again.. thanks... hopefully we both will reach our goals

Hi there, I have started Atkins today. The problem I have is that I am vegetarian so I may find cheese and eggs boring after a while. We will see though. Induction will be the hardest though. I need to loose about 30 pounds. Cheryl

being a vegetarian does make it difficult.. try adding butter to regime.. that might add some variety... i couldn't start because my fever returned the night before... i have been having the flu for the past week and the plan was to get to atkins after recovering.. guess i'll have to give a few mr days...

Hi Tawsif, I was just thinking I should start induction again - I have done this before and just let it go and having a hard time getting myself back on track. When I saw your message, I think it was meant for me to get busy! We are very close in size and our goal is the same, I, too and 5'9" and I weigh 170 but would like to get back to 145. If you would like to buddy up and support and help each other stay on track, I would love to do that also. I leave Friday for a week's work and know it's going to be hard to eat as I should but maybe if I have someone to be responsible to I can do it! Deb

Hi there - I'd be happy to be your buddy as well. I am trying to start today - ate enough junk yesterday that I feel sick so might as well try to get going! It's great to be able to help each other out.
