Smile Vacation May 25th with 66 pounds to lose!

Hey! I just started the Induction Phase on this past Saturday. I plan on staying on the induction phase or rules the whole time until vacation date. I am sure my expectations are a little high, but I knew someone once that weighed probably 40 pounds more than me and still lost 60 pounds in 3 months. Any advice as to what I can expect or how to reach my goal?

I don't want to rain on the parade, but you do realize that means losing 0.8 lbs every day from now until May 25th, right?

Did it take you 2-3 months to put 66 lbs on? You cannot expect to repair in a few months the damage you did in years. Your body doesn't care about vacation -- it will lose weight at its own pace, not based on some schedule. There will be weeks when your menu is perfect, you exercise and drink plenty of water, but you still won't see any big results. There will also be weeks when you lose 2-3 lbs. Don't compare yourself with your friend. The more you have to lose, the faster you will lose; it also depends on your metabolism, exercise routine, etc.

Staying on induction for a long time does not necessarily allow one to lose more weight. There are people who stall at the end of the first two weeks and they begin losing again only after they move to OWL.

You will probably not lose 66 lbs until May 25th, but if you eat right and exercise you will certainly lose weight and be more fit by then. Good luck!

Despite all your good intentions, you're mightily tempted by a food you're not supposed to have. What to do? I'll tell you this: You'd better have a strategy ready!"

Good luck!

My only question is have you read Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution~~2002 version? Good points by Georgiana. I would hate to see you set yourself up to fail by setting such a high goal.

Explore the site, read peoples stories, ask questions & don't be shy!

I would get the book and keep on this site.

Atkins way of eating is one of the best things going, but its
not magic.

Follow the rules and either way you will be more fit by your vacation.

Good Luck !!

I had 150 pounds to lose and I stuck to Atkins by the book, with nary a slip-up, and I lost 48 pounds in 90 days or three months. You are talking 86 days, less than three months and 66 pounds when you don't have over 100 pounds total to lose.

If you follow the Atkins plan by the book, no doubt you will be down considerable poundage and that is all you can hope for.

I agree stick with the plan. You may not lose 66 lbs, but any weight loss during three months is a success, and you will look and feel better. Good luck on your journey!

Another thing...if you do Atkins right--high fat, moderate protein and low carb, drink lots of water and exercise--you will be much smaller at a higher scale weight. You lose lots more inches on Atkins done right. Almost all of us can wear much smaller clothes at a higher weight than ever before. I missed getting to wear many of my old favorites on the way down because I wore them at a much lower weight before, and by the time I tried them on, they were falling off me.
