Couple of things....

First, try to think about what was happening that made you eat that stuff. Were you hungry and didn't have legal food around? Were you bored and ate out of habit? Were you under emotional stress? Etc. Knowing what triggered you today will help you develop strategies to cope with a future similar situation.

Second, you just have to pick up where you left off. No need to "start over": starting over is for folks who are on the other weight loss phases or on maintenance who have completely fallen off the wagon. Drink your water, do your exercises. Your next meal should be an Induction legal one.

Please don't throw up on purpose. So very very bad for you mentally and physically. Just get right back on the plan and maybe read the book when you are feeling helpless. That helps me.

No need to feel bad! OMG, how long ago was it for you that you would have eaten all the rice, sugar & cookies & NOT felt an ounce of guilt? Your guilt is well-intentioned. It means you have EMBRACED the idea that this stuff is no good for you. WAY TO GO!!! They say the hardest part in kicking an addiction is facing the fact that you have one. In this case, SIMPLY KNOWING that this stuff is junk for you is WONDERFUL!!!! WAY TO GO SMALIK! Keep on keeping on. None of us here is perfect. Most everyone has cheated or fallen off the wagon, or found hidden sugars at some point. The difference between those people who are committed to their healthy way of eating and those who aren't is the ability to JUMP RIGHT BACK ON THE WAGON!!! Instead of using a cheat as a license to binge for the rest of the day or week, you go right back on your plan as outlined immediately. PAT YOURSELF ON THE BACK SMALIK! WAY TO GO for being mature enough to admit your mistake and jump right back on!!! :joy

This is a seriously, great tip - keep many bags of pork rinds around for those times when you NEEEEEEEEDDDDDD something! It works for me everytime. First, they are allowed, second, because they are fat they satisfy you right away, third, they really taste good!!!

When I was really feeling bad about myself it was hard to look forward to the future when I would feel good about myself. That was because I kept allowing myself to fail - I knew what it would do to me but I wanted the pleasure that eating "bad" foods gave me. If you can just follow induction for a week (to the letter, by the book, etc.) you will see that:
1) you feel better
2) your measurements are a tiny bit smaller
3) you have more energy
4) MOST IMPORTANTLY - you will have something you can feel good about which will make you feel GOOD ABOUT YOURSELF!

We all have faith in you, now have faith in yourself! :hug

I'd just figure out what caused you go to off plan - was it stress, depression, work, or boredom?

Once you have identified that you can realize it is a trigger for you and try and have something legal and satisfying on hand for next time. Probably one of the hardest things about starting this wol is eating in the real world. We all have stressful situations, or times when we can't easily eat something legal and it really requires hard work and planning to get around these times.

Good luck.

One thing that you need to look at is why you ate the stuff in the first place. Did you eat breakfast or skip lunch? Did you eat enough so that you were mildly full and not still hungry? Did you let someone bring the food into the house or did you go get it? Is a family member/friend giving the stuff to you? If you don't eat correctly or starve while on plan, you will binge/cheat. As for starting over, no, you don't have to start over.

I just found out an amazing fact that a wise friend said to me not too long ago and one you should learn too: Just because you cheat once or twice, does not mean you are not a lowcarb eater. Everybody slips but if you chose lowcarbing for your WOE permanently, then you still are. I think we get too hung up on doing this WOE perfect like a DIET and you have to make yourself forget this type of thinking. Any plan has moments cheating, failure, whatever you want to call it. Changing your way of eating is not a 100% exact science; some people can do great on this WOE and fly thru with no cheats, exercises daily and loses weight timely without effort. But you know what? 99% of us do NOT. It is all trial and error and you just have to forget yesterday and move on. Like Dr. A says, just go back to the right way of eating your very next meal, Don't beat yourself up about it. And as for the throwing up thing, if you continue to do that, not only is it dangerous but is a sign you may need to stop Atkins and get some professional help to deal with other issues besides dieting. That is a sign of deeper stress that is not diet related and you may need help dealing with that. Just relax and eat your next meal as if the cheat never happened and be prepared for the next time so you won't be tempted.
