jlcbyrd is on a distinguished road
Default Low weight loss during induction.

I am at the end of my 14 day induction and I have only lost 1 pound. I have not cheated and I am in moderate ketosis. I am am pre-menstral and I am not sure if that would affect it. This is my second time around on the induction phase. I started the last 2 weeks in Feb and then went to the doc for my routine blood work and weighed in and lost 1 pound. I was so discouraged. I started again on Monday and am ending that 14 day induction.

Here is a normal day of meals for me.

Breakfast: 2 eggs in the morning with 2 strips of turkey bacon

Lunch: small salad with 2 tablespoons of ranch with a meat topping (like chicken or ground turkey)

Dinner: A lean meat with a vege.

No snacks.

Drink only water or unsweet tea with lemon

I have eaten pork rines with my lunch if I have a hamburger patty.

I am so discouraged, but will continue on.

This has helped by blood sugars and my cholesteral was good.

Please give some advice or encouragement.

What are your stats - heights - weight - how much are you hoping to lose.

Are you eating all your veggies here?
It also looks like you are eating too little. Have your tried fitday to see what your numbers are for calories, fat, carbs, and protein? It can be very helpful.

Do you drink enough water?

Great that your numbers were good. It is nice to be healthy.

I agree with liv - before being able to comment on how good that pound loss is we do need to know your 'numbers' Many of us put them in our signature block so others can see what out height, start/current/goal weights are at a glance.

Are you keeping a note of your measurements too? Sometimes on Atkins we lose inches even if the scales go up! Weird but true

It is great that your blood tests are showing an improvement already Keep up the good work!!

I think you need to add more fat. I know this is totally weird to hear, but that is so important to losing weight with Atkins. I hope this helps!

Wait to weigh again after your period as well. Water retention is a source of great discouragement, when it doesn't need to be. And there is a TON to be said for stable blood sugars, and the nice even energy you have when you aren't crashing all the time! Even if you lose only slowly, you are taking steps toward good health. Don't discount your progress!

I don't see any exercise listed... Increase your walking and your fat intake and you should move down the weight ladder more quickly...

You may not be eating enough. You say small salad, is that 2 full cups? I'd ditch the pork rinds just for now. Pork rinds are full of salt and may be making you hold water, and besides they're not on induction. Eat full fat, don't go lean. Are you drinking 8/8ozs. or more of water each day? Eat a snack, like cheese, you're allowed 3-4 ounces a day you know. I think you're eating too little.
