OK, I can do that... Here's the thing, I just found this board tonight and have just learned that the Atkins Bars are BAD BAD BAD... I too started wondering about the bars saying 2 net carbs but doing the math myself showed around 10... I found this site tonight in my quest for truth... Anyway, here's my diet: 1. Everything I've eaten grilled this week I grilled on my George Foreman grill... Monday Breakfast - Omelet with Ham and cheese Lunch - Ham and Cheese wrapped in lettuce Snack - Atkins Shake Dinner - Grilled chicken breast, grilled Zuchini and Onions Tuesday Breakfast - Omelet with Ham and Cheese Snack - Atkins Bar Lunch - Chicken Breast Snack - Atkins Bar Dinner - Chicken Breast with grilled Zuchini Wednesday Breakfast - Omelet with Egg and Ham(little harder to eat 3rd day in a row) Lunch - Atkins Bar Snack -Atkins Shake Dinner - Grilled hamburger and cheese with 2 boiled eggs. Thursday Breakfast - (really gotta find another idea, but...) Omelet with ham and cheese Snack - Atkins Bar Lunch - Atkins Bar(was real busy at work today. I work at a public school, so eating lunch there is NEVER a good idea for someone trying to lose weight) Snack - Atkins Bar Dinner - Grilled hamburger with cheese and 4 Hard boiled eggs. Anyway with 3 bars today I thought I'd better answer my questions on their claim of net carbs. I found this site and found that I'm doing wrong in the minds of many here... But, how do you argue with 13 pounds in 4 days?

| Are you by any chance male? If so then, from other posts I have read on lowcarb boards, it is fairly 'normal' to lose that sort of amount quickly . Don't worry about the quick losses so far - they will probably slow down soon so enjoy them while you can ![]() Well done for including exercise from the start of your Atkins journey ![]() I am not seeing much in the way of veggies in your menus - are you getting your 3 cups in most days? We are allowed 2 cups from the 'salad list' which includes mushrooms, peppers, celery as well as lettuce plus one cup from the 'other list' which includes zucchini (courgettes in UK). Also we are supposed to get 'most' of our up to 20 net carbs from our veggies on induction. The Atkins bars do contain ingredients that are not allowed on induction (check the labels for this) and in my opinion are therefore not induction-legal but could be introduced once you reach the OWL level/rung that does allow all the ingredients.

Wow! What a brilliant start! You are quite right that Atkins bars/shakes/low carb products are not popular on here. They are definitely not permitted on induction as contain ingredients from higher rungs in OWL. From what I have seen, some people stop losing weight when using them and others don't - with that weight loss when using so many, I guess you're one of the ones that can take these products (after induction). Having said that, it's the first thing you should cut if your weight loss grinds to a halt. x

Yup, as a guy and having just put the weight on, it will probably be a lot faster coming off than for the average person here. (Since your body hasn't gotten used to the higher weight you are not going to have as much resistance to it coming off). BUT your diet is almost all protein and while you will lose fast, you really aren't giving your body proper fiber or nutrition. Also if you do this right to the end, how will you make the transition to lifetime eating. I would suggest starting to the next rung and really concentrate on eating your veggies. You can do celery and pepper sticks if you don't like cooked veggies. You can always fry up onion and peppers to go with just about anything. But do learn to eat them. Fast off can also be fast back on. Many of us have learned this the hard way. Congratulations on your loss so far, but it really isn't a success unless it is still gone a year from now.

As for the veggies, I thought I was getting them. The ones in the 1 cup per day - Zuchinni is what I've been eating. Isnt the 2 cup veggies and 1 cup veggies an either/or thing? I actually ate zuchinni on Wed too, don't know why I didn't type it.

Well, leveled out it seems. I've actually gained 2 pounds back, but I'm still minus 12 for the 1st week so I can't complain at all. I'm eating more veggies now, salads and steamed broccoli... Just want to make sure I do it right.

The more you weigh the faster you lose in the beginning... especially if you haven't been that weight forever... Plus men lose faster, women hate that, but I think if it wasn't that way, perhaps men would get discouraged more easily ?
