| Brand new mom if you are breast feeding you should not do induction. Just saying just in case. Welcome to ADBB The best way to go about this is the get the book Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002) to make sure you have all the rules. It is very clearly spelled out in there. And judging by your questions you really need some guide and help here. | Hi Brand New Mom, First of all congrats on your new baby!! I am glad you decided to go back to Atkins. I am doing the exact same thing. I did atkins a few yrs ago and had amazing results. Unfortunately i thought it would be ok to go back to eating all those carbs and gained the weight back. Answering some of your questions, from what i can recall you can go to extended induction for up to 6 months, but Dr. Atkins suggests to do this if you still have to lose 100lbs. What you can do is do the 2 week induction and introduce a daily 5gr of carbs to your diet. Thats the healthiest way to do it and it will help you in adapting Akins as a lifestyle and not only a diet. Also, there is no honey, milk, whole grain, dark chocolate or sugar allowed during induction. The sweetener Dr. Atkins recommeds is "Splenda." You can find it in any grocery store. | 1- Induction is usually 2 weeks with only 20 carbs per day, some people do it longer if they have a lot to lose... 2- Honey is not allowed 3- Milk is not allowed, coffee is discouraged, Brown sugar and refined sugar are not allowed. Splenda is allowed 4- Grains are not allowed 5- dark chocolate is not allowed. Cocoa is not allowed 6- You should take a multi-vitamin with no iron. 7- Aerobic workouts with a DVD is a great way to burn calories ... Weights are great for toning your muscles... Read the book before you start, that way you can stock up on the right foods... |
