Default Please .. do HELP ME in my Induction Im Lost ...!!!

Hello guys here iam restarting atkins with my own without my doctor .. it has been along time since i do atkins like arround 4 yrs ago .. big time huh !!

anyway now im restaring my atkins alone .. and the problem that i forgoten most of the diet aspects .... so please do guide me again to right path ... im confusing im lost !!!!! i dont know if im doing right the atkins OR im just doing a low carb diet that far away from atkins guide lines!!!???

Here are my questions please please ... give me some hints ... iam doing right??? are they okay the things im doing?? what shell i do instead???

first my goal is to lose 44 pound .. im 176 lbs now and i want to be 132lbs so till when shell i continue doing the induction?? for the best result?? in an other way .. ( note because i want only 44 pound to lose)

1- how long should i safley do the first phase .. with 20 gram of carb??

2- i'm allowed to use honey?? in the morning because my favorite breakfats if 2-3 tsp of honey over a heavy cream ( well i know heavy cream i allowed but im not sure about the honey)

3- i'm allowed to use milk ? for my mocha coffee?? puls natural brown suger not refiend suger ... if Not what suger type fits into Atkins ???

4- Is it okay to use whole grain brown crunchy slices i use 4 silce and 8 slice contains 40 grams of carb .. i use 4 slice which means only 20 gram

5- Can i have dark chocolate for dessert?? like dark chocolate bars with 80% pure coca??

6- What vitamines supplemnts i should take during atkins?? im using now chromium picolinate 200 mcg because they told me its good for fat burning .. what do u think anyone got an idea about it and is it fine to use it with atkins???

7- The workout part ... i have bought a couple of Jillian Michaels DVDs and start exercising with her for 40 minutes usually she is doing Aerobics workout .. so im doing 40 minutes-5 days a week is that enough?? or should i add something more like weight training ??walking outdoor?? ...


Thanks alot guys ... and please help and guid me to the right path since i dont have the book and im doing it on my own ... my only sources are these Boards and the internet articles about atkins diet ...and i know many of you are already being an expert atkineers better than doctors

Brand new mom if you are breast feeding you should not do induction. Just saying just in case.
Welcome to ADBB

The best way to go about this is the get the book Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002) to make sure you have all the rules. It is very clearly spelled out in there. And judging by your questions you really need some guide and help here.

Hi Brand New Mom,
First of all congrats on your new baby!!
I am glad you decided to go back to Atkins. I am doing the exact same thing. I did atkins a few yrs ago and had amazing results. Unfortunately i thought it would be ok to go back to eating all those carbs and gained the weight back.
Answering some of your questions, from what i can recall you can go to extended induction for up to 6 months, but Dr. Atkins suggests to do this if you still have to lose 100lbs. What you can do is do the 2 week induction and introduce a daily 5gr of carbs to your diet. Thats the healthiest way to do it and it will help you in adapting Akins as a lifestyle and not only a diet.
Also, there is no honey, milk, whole grain, dark chocolate or sugar allowed during induction. The sweetener Dr. Atkins recommeds is "Splenda." You can find it in any grocery store.

1- Induction is usually 2 weeks with only 20 carbs per day, some people do it longer if they have a lot to lose...

2- Honey is not allowed

3- Milk is not allowed, coffee is discouraged, Brown sugar and refined sugar are not allowed. Splenda is allowed

4- Grains are not allowed

5- dark chocolate is not allowed. Cocoa is not allowed

6- You should take a multi-vitamin with no iron.

7- Aerobic workouts with a DVD is a great way to burn calories ... Weights are great for toning your muscles...

Read the book before you start, that way you can stock up on the right foods...

Chromium, up to 1000 mcg daily (incl. that found in your multivitamin) is one of the supplements recommended by Dr. Atkins.
