Default Zero Carb Bread?

Has anyone tried linda's diet delights zero net carb bread products? if so, how were they? more importantly, are they induction legal?

Is this what you're talking about?

Zero Net Carb Bread - 1 Point : Lindas Diet Delites

If so, it sounds good!! However I believe you have to wait for the grains rung. Not induction legal.

i dont think theres such thing as a zero carb bread. if there is, i bet it's not good. here is a link to some recipes, but i should you should hold off until you're done with induction, but that's just my suggestion.

I didn't know about it either, its got equal carbs and fiber to zero it out to nada. No, its not induction friendly, but when we get up there to the grain rung, it would be great to try

Default Re: Zero Carb Bread?

Is it really zero carb - there is something fishy about the math

Here is the Nutritional Information

Quote:
Serving Size: 1 oz / 1 slice

Calories: 40
Fat: 1g
Carbs: 7g
Fiber: 7g
Sugar: 0g
Protein: 6g
So the product has one gram of fat that is 9 calories and it has 6 protein that is 24 calories so if we add those two up the product has 33 calories. What makes up the left over 7 calories?
But defintly not induction legal when you look at the list of ingredients:
Quote:
Ingredients: Oat Fiber, Bran, Wheat Gluten, Water, Soy Protein, Corn Starch, Soy Flour, Fiber Extract, Vegetable Oil, Rye Flour, Splenda, Salt, Yeast, Malted Barley Extract, Dough Conditioner, Calcium, Spices
Oat, wheat, soy, corn starch, flour, barley - none of them are on the allowed list. And we only eat from the allowed list on induction

Don't believe it so fast - the numbers & ingredients don't add up to the claim: if fat has 9cal/g, carb & protein each have 4, assuming all carbs in label are 100% fiber, look what you get...
Calories: 40--- really??
label v. actual
Fat: 1g------9
Carbs: 7g-----28
Fiber: 7g (redundant)
Sugar: 0g------0
Protein: 6g----20
------calories=57

Ingredients include Corn Starch, Soy Flour, Rye Flour, Malted Barley Extract, Dough Conditioner, Spices
All of these I am certain contain non-fiber carbs (except remotely possible the type of non-specified last 2 "ingredients" could exclude carbs;but then, if that were true, WHY are they not specified??)

You have to watch these nutritional labels carefully. Like boonie and liv wrote, there's something fishy about these numbers.

They might be splitting the fiber from the carbs, like they do in Europe. If they are, then it's somewhat false advertizing and it's misleading.

Just remember that manufacturers in the US are allowed to "round up" or "round down" numbers for carbs (fat and protein are more highly regulated so they can't do that.)
