| perchance, if you are starving, you MUST eat. Dr. Atkins said to eat when you are hungry, and that's especially important on induction. I'd suggest eating meat dipped in a bit of mayonnaise. imagood1 told me about that, and it's the most satisfying thing you can eat. And if you are still hungry 15 minutes after eating that, have another piece. Meat will not mess with your going into ketosis. So get to the kitchen now! |

| You will have hunger until you are in ketosis... try to eat zero carb foods when you are already at your daily limit to take care of the late night cravings until you make it past the first week (which is the worst) |

| thanks! I think I'm also having a hard time getting used to eating if I am hungry. Unlike all the low-cal diets I'm used to where, if you've used up all your allotted calories for the day, that's it. I ended up having another 1/2 of a chicken breast and water which seems to have done the trick.

| Another vote for eating when you're hungry, especially getting through induction. Just make sure what you're eating is low-carb safe (meats, etc) but go to town otherwise. Don't starve yourself! It's normal to feel hunger pangs, especially for first-timers on Atkins going through induction. You can do well to beat those pangs by eating frequently and drinking water as often as you can. Try eating small amounts of food throughout the day as opposed to waiting for big meals at set times. For instance, if I cook a chicken breast, unless I'm starving, I won't eat the whole thing in one sitting. I'll try to nibble on it over an hour or two, if possible. Just extend your food so you're "always" eating and don't hesitate to start munching even before you get hungry. Stay on top of the hunger game and you won't go crazy. |
