I have that same issue. My brother and his family constantly eat my Atkins food. They goes on about how unhealthy it is and how Im crazy for doing it...and then they eat all my snacks!

My brother's excuse?? "There's nothing in the house to eat". The fridge and cupboards are FULL of food - high carb food. They can feast!

I think you need to have that little talk with your family that Dr Atkins describes as 'Training those special people' at the end of Chapter 19 of DANDR.

Maybe you can discuss with them that though you are not expecting them to follow your chosen way of eating you do not expect them to sabotage your weightloss efforts by eating the foods that you have specifically planned for your menus and snacks.

Maybe you will have to set aside a special 'Alize's cupboard' which no-one else is allowed to forage in, to make it clear to them that they are being unfair to you by eating 'your' foods and forcing you either to go hungry or eat something which is not 'allowed' on your chosen food plan.

My husband has always been supportive of my weightloss plans and for a while even followed Atkins with me but at the beginning even he upset me a few times by messing up my menu plans by snacking on something I had earmarked for a meal or snack for myself.

So as I am the one who does the 'catering' he now knows that if he wants to eat the last pack or piece of something in the fridge he needs to mention it and check if it will upset my plans if he eats it.

It might sound as if I am a controlling person, but it works for us, as there is always plenty of other food that he 'could' eat on those few occasions that I am planning to use the last pack of something in a recipe or meal.

Also I always make sure I have 'extra' of the things he might fancy snacking on. For a long time he thought pork rinds were gross, but after seeing me eating them for years he did try them and liked them So when I buy pork rinds I get a few extra packets and not just what I need for 'my' snacks.

I was going to say hide the pork rinds from them.

But ElizEllen's answer is so much better.

Luckily no one else in my family likes what I have to snack on....but I hear about how it's ridiculous we have to make more than one thing for dinner...funny since I'm the one cooking dinner, I don't put anyone else out - what difference does it make?

I would suggest like Elizellen said, to talk to your family - if they don't comply, do like Sunny said and hide your pork rinds!!

my mother -always- eats my pork rinds. I dont even eat them as a snack i just save them till i want to fry chicken. and i never have it when i want it. It isnt those little bags either its those big ole fat ones. then she leaves like 2 of them in the bottom and puts it back in the cabinet. So while she was gone this weekend I rearranged the entire pantry and put all HER crap on one side and all My crap on the other.
