| It's common to experience appetite suppression during induction. Your body is no longer having those carb-induced spikes toward cravings so it's definitely something you're not used to, but completely normal. I personally embrace it, as I hated to feel so rushed to eat when I was eating lots of carbs like my life depended on it, but I understand how the feeling can make some people uneasy. If you're very concerned that you're not eating, have even the smallest portions of something that's carb-friendly. Even if it's just a bite or two, that you consume as you would a vitamin, it's better than nothing. As you begin adding carbs back to your diet, in the future phases, you'll feel plenty hungry again, so not to worry if you miss that sensation. |

| Thanks for responding. I've generally had no appetite since Induction but I still could eat something.. even if very little. The only thing that worries me is I am so light headed, dizzy and my ears are ringing for some reason. I just now tricked picking at a rotisserie chicken and I couldn't even eat a pinky's worth (and I have tiny pinkys!) I think I am going to lay down and try to eat something again in an hour.

| Maybe it would help to get outside. Sometimes a walk, some fresh air, watching children play, seeing people enjoying the TGIF feeling just plain helps. Hope you're feeling better soon.

| Bikini, I felt rotten a lot during the first month. I think it takes longer for some of our bodies to switch over to a ketone based metabolism. Sometimes I would feel really good, then would have more bad days before the good ones returned. I would read the posts about people feeling good and having energy, and I seriously wondered several times whether or not I would be able to stay on Atkins. But I kept going, and all of those bad times are in the past now. I honestly feel better than I have in many years... so many wonderful health benefits. Give yourself some time for your body to adapt. It will. |

| Try boosting your electrolytes and nutrients even if you can't come to eating much - your body will thank you, feel better and possibly you will find food more interesting if it isn't suffering from the initial gushing out of water and body salts, which happens when you switch to ketosis; they need replacing along with the water, and your other nutrients are still needed, too. Boullion is one of my induction favorites, and you can add potassium & magnesium, and vitamin tablet. Try to eat at least a little with that, tho...

| Ive felt like this alot of times but because I dont want that crummy dizzy feeling where I cant do anything let alone take care of my five kids i force myself to eat something. I dont eat nearly half as much as I used to but I do eat. Look at Linda's site maybe you can make something appealing. Im so sick of fish and chicken and then I found the taco salad!!! I ve been having that for lunch three days in a row and im in heaven.

| Could you manage a cup of soup now and again? You can make tasty nutritious soups by putting some cooked meat and veg into a food processor and zapping it into a puree then adding cream and/or butter to get a soup consistency.

| Thanks for all the posts!! Glad to know I am not alone........ And ElizeEllen~ That soup sounds really good! So to update about yesterday... I ended up not eating anything in the afternoon. I went to an Irish Dance lesson in the evening with my friend. I really worked up a sweat.. it was great excercize.... and then I was RAVENOUS on the way home! I thought,oh boy... chicken tenders.. steak.. here we come!! So, I cooked the steak.. put a piece of cheese on top, and I ate half of it and I wasn't hungry at all. I thought I could eat the steak and then some. After reading a bit more of Atkins Book I really think I am in the lipolysis (i can't spell..) stage really good now. Maybe the first week I had some hidden carbs that didn't quite get me there, but now I am or somethin'! Anyway, I am planning a bacon, egg and sausage breakfast this morning as soon as Hubby gets up!
