| Hi Jacqueline. Net carbs are total carbs minus fiber and sugar alcohol. Fiber and sugar alcohol are subtracted because they don't act like normal carbs by spiking your blood sugar and insuline levels.

| That is one of the problems with the shakes. Some people may actually absorb those carbs and therefore that 1 or 2 they put on the front is a lie. The American Diabetes Association tells their members to count half the carb in sugar alcohol as carbs. So they do raise bloodsugar to some degree - probably. We have to be careful with them on Atkins and try them out so that we can figure out how/if they effect us.

| Get a copy of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, 2002 edition. That is the book we use at ADBB.

| Hi Jacqueline, welcome to the board. Sorry you wasted your money on those shakes but put them someplace and once your out of induction, try them every so often cause they often stall weight loss. Great post, glad you joined |

| Thanks everyone for your input, I never really got the net carb thing and I was actually wrong on the carb count on the bck it's only 4 then 1 net, but when I followed it a few yrs back I never did the whole net cab thing I just watched the total carbs. Only been on it a almost a week, but from past experiance my body reacts well to the high protein, and I'm feeling lighter already....so will stick with it. Thanks again for your imput. J |
