Default Newbie - wondering if i will loose weight in induction??

Hi everybody

I am currently 64 kg which i think is about 130 pounds? im 167cm.

Anyway i am hoping to loose around 3 - 4 kgs and have tried just about everything so thought atkins might be my next shot!

I know my weight goal is not huge - but i would love to loose that extra bit of fatty layers on me

i was wondering if you guys think it would be possible to loose that weight during induction? or if there is anything different i might need to do because i realise my weight loss goal is not that big?

any feedback would be appreciated as im new to this diet.

thanks guys - and congrats to everyone on their weight losses!

During Induction, one typically loses 5-10% of the weight he/she has to lose. So if you have 10 lbs to lose, the typical weight loss would be about 1 lbs. Some lucky folks lose more. However, you should not expect 10 lbs in 2 weeks.

So while you are probably not going to lose 10 lbs in 14 days, you can lose the weight as you advance through all the phases of the program. When I say "weight" though, I do not necessarily mean "pounds", but rather "inches". So before you begin Atkins, take body measurements too.

I have 14Ib to loose and i am on induction day 6 and have only lost aprox 2Ib, so for us who have fairly small amounts to loose i can imagine that it may take longer than larger amounts

2 lbs is great when you have 14 to lose. Think of it in terms of percentages. 2 lbs is over 10%. Most people lose 5-10% in 14 days! Lucky you. You're doing great.

Do you think we will get more results staying on induction for 3 weeks instead of two?

It is impossible to say for sure. But in our experience at ADBB, we have seen that most people who do not have a lot to lose and are not metabolically resistant experience a stall after the first two weeks if they continue with Induction. Their weight loss usually restarts immediately after they move to OWL.

Here is an excerpt from DANDR (Chapter 13, "More Induction?", page 160):
Quote:
If you do not have much more weight to lose, it is advisable for you to advance to OWL so you can cycle through all the phases of the program.
So if have little to lose, Dr. Atkins' advice is to move to OWL after the first two weeks.
