Default Figuring out a goal weight?

I suppose this might be a bit odd, but I'm not sure what my goal weight should be. I've never been one to weigh myself (I once went years without doing so and have no idea what my weight was during that time) and I tend to assess my weight based upon how my clothing fits. If my clothes are a bit loose, great. If not, time to cut back on carbs.*

I've been weighing myself this time just for fun to watch the weight drop, but I honestly don't know what a realistic goal would be. Would it be better for me to set a clothing size goal instead? I suppose I could have no goal and simply find a weight/size that feels comfortable for me, but I think that having a goal would give me something to work toward and help me avoid complacency. However, too small a goal is useless and too big a goal will merely frustrate me.

Any thoughts/suggestions?

*this is my second time doing Atkins. The first was before I had my two children and was very successful, hence my reference to cutting back carbs when my clothes got a bit tighter.

That's precisely what I did. Weight depends on the person. A 5'6" guy at 270 will look completely different than a 6'3" guy at 270.

So I do clothing sizes (look below for my goal clothing).

Clothing size would be a great measure.

If you like to do weight - you can go by finding out what is a healthy weight for a person your height, age, gender. That is how I arrived at my weight goal. Usually you would want a BMI (body mass index) under 25.

You can use a calculator like this one here

Agreed! Clothing is a great measure, but how you feel is a good measure as well. IMO, BMI calculators put up unreasonable numbers for some. There is no way I could be at they're "ideal weight" and look healthy. Having said that, it works for most.
