| Lauren, if you are going to insist on doing Atkins 'your' way, I suggest you post in the LowCarb other than Akins forums. Please remember that the purpose of this forum is to help the new people learn how to do Atkins correctly, and a post such as what you've just written is VERY confusing and contradictory. You know that we don't advocate the use of alcohol or aspartame during Induction...and this is not the correct forum to talk about 'refeeds', so please be mindful of the purpose of this forum, ok? Thanks! |

| YOU HAVE HAD GOOD SUCCESS WITH ATKINS SO FAR-SOME LOSS IS BETTER THAN NO LOSS. FALLING OF IS NOT AS IMPORTANT AS GETTING BACK ON AGAIN..BUT IT IS KIND OF SAD TO PLAN TO CHEAT IN ADVANCE ALL I CAN SAY IS SINCE YOU ARE OPENLY PLANNING TO FLAW YOUR INDUCTION..IT WOULD NOT MAKE ANY SINCE FOR YOU TO POST A TOPIC AFTER THE DAMAGE IS DONE AND COMPLAIN ABOUT HOW YOU HAVE NOT LOST ANY MORE WEIGHT!!! ON THE OTHER HAND IF THIS CHEAT DOES NOT CAUSE A STALL IN WEIGHT OR INCH LOSS-COLOR YOURSELF LUCKY AND HAPPY LOW-CARBING FOR THE REST OF YOUR INDUCTION :wave |

| I a do have to agree with Moochie. Drinking is brought back in the OWL rungs not in 14 days of induction. This is not the way we do a 14 day induction. I would also suggest posting this in another forum because we are here to teach/help people with a 14 day induction and what you are suggestion to do should be discussed in the Low Carb forum.

| Alcohol is a not an acceptable beverage during Induction because it slows your fat burning.Your body will preferentially use alcohol as a fuel source before it uses the your fat/protein/carb. HOWEVER, while your bod is using the booze, it's busy storing that fat/protein/carb as glucose, glycogen or more body fat. But since you are willing to sacrifice your weight loss potential for drinks, you will have to also come to grips that your weight loss might be slower than a person of your same age, sex, weight, height, and exercise level who isn't using alcohol during Induction. (In other words, don't come here complaining you aren't losing weight quickly enough.) As for going on and off Atkins, again, you will have to get your body back into lipolysis everytime. For some people, this gets harder and harder to do each time they stray. This is the "One Golden Shot" theory of low carbing. You can read more about it here: http://www.lowcarbluxury.com/goldenshot.html. The other option you and others should look into is moving onto OWL after the 14 Day Induction period. Induction isn't the entire Atkins Diet and shouldn't be used as such if you want to keep the weight off. Good luck to you and whatever you decide.

To break addictions and cravings to sweets and other things you need to do a CLEAN induction. No alcohol, no planned cheats, no refeeds. You do it by the book and if there are still cravings then there are further steps we can tell you about. Dawn

You are telling us no one can change your mind -- and yet you ask "is this bad?" What difference does it make?!? If no one can change your mind, who cares if we say "It's not allowed"??? You asked "What should I do?" Again, it doesn't matter. Your mind is made up not to stick to Induction. What you SHOULD do is stick to Induction. But I know you don't want to hear that answer. And no, re-feeding doesn't mean you can cheat and not feel guilt. Sorry. It's a whole scientific formula of food -- not just "OK, I'll call this a re-feed and I'm good to go..." The best way to be successful at this WOE is to follow it step-by-step. You know, if you'd done that since the beginning, you'd be eating fruit by now!!! Asking our permission to cheat isn't going to work here -- but you know that already Saying all that, I will just add -- it is always your personal choice as to whether you follow this WOE or not. No one here can make you follow this WOE to the letter -- it's your choice. Whether you drink tonight or not, whether you eat fruit before it's allowed or not -- it's all up to you. Your decision has to be one you can be comfortable with. Joan J

| :sarcasm I suggest you discontinue the phrase "I'm on Atkins." After viewing your posts from back in December, you obviously are not. The endless questions of "can I have_______?" or "I ate/drank ______, am I still in ketosis?" All of these questions show that you are not committed to this WOL and ought to embark on a personal journey to find what eating program suits you. All 300+ posts, when read collectively, almost look like a mockery of the Atkins WOE, as you are REGULARLY asking about something you KNOW is not allowed. Had you stuck with Atkins & done it by the book, I bet you wouldn't be 11 pounds heavier than you were back in Dec., and would probably already be at your goal weight! |
