| Kremo, :wave Check your version of DANDR, Onions have a good deal of sugar and are allowed but only on OWL - not induction. You can find the carb count in the counter at the beginning of your book - one onion has 9.5 grams of carbs and a 1/4 cup of has 1.8 grams. Hope this helps, Peter |

| The foods list specifically lists "scallions" or "green onions". They are typically lower in carbs and have the same onion taste. Yellow onions are much higher. Something like 5 net carbs per 1/2 cup. I added yellow and sweet onions (Vidalia, Maui, etc.) during my OWL rung---and very sparingly too.

| Ok so its considered the veggie phase of OWL? Got it. I knew they weren't allowed during Induction, but couldn't find where specifically to add them in. |

| And for any UK Inductees - 'Spring Onions' is our name for 'Green Onions' so are allowed in moderation on Induction as they are on the 1-cup list. BTW one bunch of these is about a cup when stripped of roots and nasty brown leaves and chopped.

| wow we got some bad Atkins induction info going on here ONIONS are on the 1 cup list as are scallions what type of onion you use is up to you or even if you eat them. oinons and tomatoes are two veggies Dr Atkins warns us about in DANDR as possible too much natural sugar going on for your metabolism to handle. You can get the same onion flavor in the green onions but not the sugars if you want to go that way. when you add them is up to you. HAppy low carbing.

| My bad. It looks like I was the one who gave the bad info. Sorry. (but it also goes to show that you need to re-check the lists yourself.) I used primarily the scallions/green onions during Induction because I wanted to save on the carbs. The mature onions, I added onto my menu during OWL, again due to the carb count. Enjoy your onions (but don't breath on me )
