| You have the Atkins flu. It will last for a couple of days. Headaches, tired, sluggish feeling then all of a sudden it will be gone and you will have a burst of energy! It's a great feeling. From what I have been reading so far...carrots are NOT on the list. Here is the list of acceptable veggies. The other stuff looks great. Check out the Never Ending Induction recipies for ideas http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...n-recipes.html (Never ending induction recipes) Linda's Low carb recipies Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes - Recipes The more you read in here...the more you will learn. Both of those sites have some YUMMY ideas and recipies that will help you over some of the cravings. Vegetables You can have two to three cups per day of: alfalfa sprouts daikon mushrooms arugula endive parsley bok choy escarole peppers celery fennel radicchio chicory jicama radishes chives lettuce romaine lettuce cucumber moche sorrel These salad vegetables are high in phytonutrients and provide a good source of fiber. Other Vegetables You can have one cup per day of these veggies if salad does not exceed two cups. The following vegetables are slightly higher in carbohydrate content than the salad vegetables: artichoke celery root pumpkin artichoke hearts rhubarb asparagus chard sauerkraut bamboo shoots collard greens scallions dandelion snow peas bean sprouts dandelion greens spaghetti squash beet greens eggplant spinach broccoli hearts of palm string or wax beans broccoli rabe kale summer squash brussels kohlrabi tomato bean sprouts leeks turnips cabbage okra water chestnuts cauliflower onion zucchini If a vegetable, such as spinach or tomato, cooks down significantly, it must be measured raw so as not to underestimate its carb count. |

| Hi M: Stay away from carrots! They are very high glycemic. It's almost like eating sugar. Try this website, I swear by it! www.fitday.com I'm a newbie also. Make sure you are getting enough calories. This is not a starvation diet. Fit day will tell you pretty much what your metabolism is like and then you can adjust your calories. Norman Induction start 5/25/09: 32% bodyfat, weight: 245 lb. Lean Body Mass: 167 lb. Current (6/3/09): 26.9% bodyfat, weight: ~230 lb. Lean Body mass: 169 lb. Goal: 11-15% bodyfat, weight n/a, Lean body mass: 180 lb. |

| oh shucks, I just bought 2 bags of baby carrots.... I guess I'll send those home with the grandbabies.... Thanks for your replies.... I was on the road all day today and couldn't cook resulting in not eating as much.... Tomorrow I work but I'll be bringing egg salad with me. Hope this headache goes away soon.... Thanks, Nella
