| 1/2 cup of cheese? We are limited to 3-4 oz of cheese. Make sure you review this: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...induction.html (What foods can be eaten on Induction?) (What foods can be eaten on Induction?)

| I am not sure? It could be. The oz is weight for cheese. So you have to cut the chunk and then grate it and see what happens.

So assuming Colby cheese is similar to cheddar cheese your 1/2 cup probably held about 2 ounces in weight. I usually weigh cheese before shredding it to be sure what quantity I am using in a recipe. As a side note - the pre-shredded cheese usually has added starch to stop it sticking together, so use block cheese and grate it yourself if you can.

| Yes, this is my first day as well. And I too work nights, so my day begins at around 3:00 p.m. I am glad you posted because I thought we could have endless amounts of cheese - as long as it didn't have any carbs. I am somewhat confused because I see people talking about giving up diet cokes, but there are no carbs in diet cokes. (I have sent off for the book through Amazon). Today I ate bacon and eggs, roast beef, and 3oz of cheese. According to FitDay I have consumed 6.5 carbs, but I have already eaten 94g of fat (yikes), AND 1283 calories. WOW. That's difficult to adjust too that type of counting, but it certainly seems to work for all of these people, Thanks for your question about the cheese..., it helped me too. |

| Yeah, I can't wait for the book to get here. In the meantime, I am trying desperately to read through these forums (FAQ's as well) to get educated about this eating pattern. After reading these forums I realized how important veggies are so I ate my veggies yesterday by eating a garden salad with oil and vinegar dressing. Initially I bought Ranch Dressing at the store, reading the 0 carbs on the label, thinking it was all good. Then I was reading in here about the added sugar in the dressing, as well as the bacon I bought, and returned them both to the store. I bought bacon that has no sugar in it and ate that this morning. I am trying my best to learn from these boards until I can sit down and read the book, but I'll probably have some ???'s even after reading the book. I appreciate the experience in these forums and the help provided. Thanks! |
