Default After all my hard work, I did something stupid

I will come right out and say it: I cheated Thursday. No excuses, no blaming game, I cheated. :sadblinky The key to staying on Atkins, with me anyway, is to plan ahead and be very prepared. Unfortunately, in a rushed moment, I forgot my breakfast and lunch that morning, I was hungry all day and when I came home, I was so tired. I took a nap insted of eating and when I woke up, my husband was crying about something to eat. So I made him something fast so he could leave me alone: Sloppy Joes. Bad idea, turns out. I was over-the-moon with hunger by then and so I ate two. :anger Bad me.

As bad as I feel about cheating, I also put it in perspective. Like I wrote to someone else who cheated, in a earlier post some days ago, I remember that changing the way you eat is not 100% perfect. There are hills and valleys and sometimes you jump up to the peak, only to crash in the valley. Some people can do this and change their eating 100% with no varying and no mistakes but 98% of us are not like that and I know I am not. I will take my lumps with the cheating, knowing it was not smart and learning from it. And I got right back on the next meal :nod and have made sure that I will not be unprepared like that again (I cooked 10 lbs of chicken on my day off, I can't tell you how tiring that was!) and eat out of plan. I stepped up my exercise this week and added an extra day of WATP to at least reduce the damage. You know, I have been stuck a bit at 335 for the past week and then I went up to 340 a few days ago and almost had a fit! I even got nervous about the cheat and checked my weight yesterday and I was still at 340 but funny, this morning I dropped down to 330! I don't know how to explain it or if that will change when the cheat catches up with me but I will take it! :yes

I was ashamed to come here and tell everybody but that is part of being accountable with your eating and you take the bad with the good to learn from your mistakes. And I know that I will get support and friendship here versus chewing out and "I told you so's" like friends or family would have done. ha

Good you've learned you lesson and now you know in the future you must be prepared.

Pick up where you left off in the diet and the 14 day Induction.

wow! You've already lost 70 lbs! How long have you been on Atkins? Staying on plan definitely takes preparation. I bring my lunch and sometimes dinner to work with me daily.

One question, was there NOTHING you could eat for lunch? On the rare occasion that I don't cook, I sometimes get a fast food hamburger and discard the bun. Anything is better than skipping meals. I've found that is when I am most tempted to just eat whatever I can get my hands on. Thankfully, I haven't done that yet.

Don't beat yourself up about it. It's one day. As long as you get right back on, you should be okay. Just drink LOTS and LOTS of water! That seems to be the cure for all ills. haha

Good luck and congrats on the 70 lbs loss!

good for you getting back. you must have been having a ketone deprived brain moment there as you were fixing those sloppy joes cause you could have scooped out a bowlful of meat with no sauce for you to enjoy while you finished DH's dinner prep.

Glad you are back on course and know to plan ahead like you were doing.

Watchout for some rebounding cravings and crazy thinking loike I'll just eat a bit of that and then go back to my Atkins. lots of folk after a cheat have a hard time getting back to clean Atkins.

HAppy low carbing.

You didn't lose that 70 pounds because you didn't work for it, or because you didn't deserve it - you earned it.

It sounds like it took a lot of high pressure, difficult situations back to back to push you over the edge. But you got yourself back up and that's all that matters.

One thing you might consider is what did this teach you? And how can you avoid it from happening again?

Maybe keeping some Atkins friendly comfort foods on hand and frozen, Chicken Soup, casseroles, mock mashed potatoes etc etc...they defrost quickly and have that "comfort" pillow that's so important after a hard and stressful day.

Good Luck, you are doing good by getting right back up and fighting, you didn't bow out because (((you're a fighter))) :guns regardless of the circumstances. Next time tell your hubby to cook if he's that hungry, naw, just kiddin' I don't wanna to start no mess.

Thanks for the support, you guys. I really needed it.

2big, trust me, after cheating i felt so horrible and stupid, there is no thought ever of cheating here and there coming to my mind--ever! And I can't believe that I didn't think to take some meat out first! :smackhead I think that I was just so tired, I didn't care until too late.

Peter, I think that I actually am the one putting me under pressure. I am trying so hard to stay on plan because I have such a on/off history with Atkins and do it so "perfect", that I put unnecessary pressure on myself. I am trying to stay more prepared and alert but lightening up a little bit. I don't want to repeat this feeling again. BTW, congrats on your 10 lb loss! :icondance Must be those weighted balls! ROFL!

Nikki, thanks for the advice! Actually, I should have told him to do that because he could have easily done it but i don't like him stompin' around my kitchen making a mess with all my brand new applicances! Plus, he is sooo messy when he cooks! :grumble

Chixrule, It is hard for me to find things at work to eat. I, believe it or not, work at Pizza Hut, so you can imagine all the trouble i could get into there; which is why I explicitly do not touch any food there if I can help it. I have been on and off Atkins about 9 times but unbelievably, the last time I was on, i lost some good pounds and each time I went off, i refused to re-addict myself back to all the same foody things (well, i did eat a few things but not like before!). i also kept up my exercise long after i had stopped. As a result, I kept off the weight I lost plus a few additional pounds came off too, much to my happiness. Right now, for me, i can't trust myself in a fast food place because I have big issues with them. So I stay away....faaaaaar away! :nod

See ya'all later! Drinking my water :capital and still fighting! :guns

Well, at least all you had were some sloppy joes, I did a real stupid thing!!! My Daughter went to an easter egg hunt today, and for some silly reason I couldnt resist dipping my fat hand into the candy bad and ate a whole handful of WHOPPERS :yikes !!! Now I feel like crap! I am a chocolate junkie! So I put the bag in her room where I dont have to look at it, and realized that tomorrow is a new day! I'm not going to beat myself up over it, and neither should you. As atkineers, we are not perfect, and there are always a few bumps in the road, just get passed it and keep up the good work! Best of luck to you. :hug
