| I started at 285 (I'm 5'2) and 1500 calories/day, min 30 minutes exercise 5x/week. Its working for me, I've lost 30lbs. It does depend on the person, and how much exercise you are getting. Reducing the fat/protein will reduce the calories and help the percentages as well. Fitday is a lot of work - I used it almost every day for the first few weeks, but now that I have the hang of Atkins, I only enter in a couple times a week, especially when I try a new recipe, or when I go up a rung/add carbs. I still plan my meals several days in advance, but I am more confident now in making last minute changes without consulting the menu or fitday...it comes with time and practice.

| Thanks for replying. I am using the elliptical about 5 to 7 times a week for 30 minutes. Today was not a typical day for me. I will try to put my info in to fitday for the next couple weeks. So what should my percentages be?

| 65% fat / 30% protein / 5% carbs... higher fat is better than lower fat - lower protein is better than higher protein - lower carbs is better than higher carbs if the amounts aren't exactly dead on... |

| Your numbers look fine to me ![]() You can post a link to your actual fitday entries if you like so people can see amounts etc and advise you. To get the link you need to go to your 'profile' page on fitday and scroll down to click on the 'make my journal public' button.

| With being 5'3" and 240 lbs... Your daily calorie intake should be between 1450 and 1750 per day... to lose weight I had 2 hamburgers that turned out to be 750 calories... on another day I had a big slice of ham that turned out to be 240 calories for the same amount of food... (half pound) - it's just a matter of making informed decisions about what you eat... and you'll get better at it as time goes on... |
