| Here is the link for everyone: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ng-atkins.html Yup, of course there's a difference---even your face looks slimmer! BTW, last time you did Atkins, did you move through all the rungs of OWL, to Pre-Maintenance and then to Maintenance?

| I see. You know what comes now? My "move to OWL" reply. Joke aside, you should really not stay in Induction for more than 2 weeks since you only have 20 lbs or so to lose and you seem to be losing quite fast. Progressing through all the phases of Atkins is important if you want to learn what foods you can tolerate (why cheat yourself of something just because you think it might cause you weight gain?) and how to maintain your weight forever. Losing weight is one thing, but maintaining it on the long term is often just as (or even more) difficult, as some of the members who reached Maintenance can tell you. There is no reason to be afraid of OWL. The journey through it is slow, with only 5 net carbs and/or a new food added at a time, so if you follow it correctly you won't go wrong. The first rung is more veggies. I know when I moved to OWL Rung 1, after staying way too long on Induction, I had the surprise of losing weight faster than I did during Induction after the first few pounds of water weight were gone. Many members had a similar experience. Did you check the OWL forum to see how OWLers are doing? Since you only have 20 lbs left to lose, they will come off slower than if you weighed more. When one has 100 lbs to lose, 10 lbs mean 10%; but if you are only 20 lbs overweight, 10 lbs mean 50%! It's often easier to appreciate your results if you compute the percentage of weight lost rather than the amount in lbs or kg. Also, the last 5-10 lbs (2-5 kg) should be spent in Pre-Maintenance and Dr. Atkins warns that doing only the Induction phase of Atkins is not how Atkins should be done. If he thought "Induction only" was the best approach, he would have designed the diet accordingly. But he didn't, so trust what he wrote from Chapter 12 on in DANDR just as you trust Chapters 1-11, and advance through all the phases of the diet.

| You're welcome! I don't know how it's best to choose your goal weight, but here's what I did. The average "normal weight" BMI is 21.7 (18.5-24.9 is the range). Since I'm 5'8" (173 cm), in my case that means 143 lbs (65 kg). I might end up being happy with 145 or 150, or maybe I'll only be satisfied when I reach 140 lbs. That's why I don't have only a weight goal in my signature (in fact, I have only added that recently), but also a dress size goal. I'd like my dress size when I reach reach goal to be 6 (in US sizes, which means an 8 in Europe)... so it is less important for me if I weigh 140 or 150 lbs as long as I fit into a size 6. Do you have a goal dress size set? Maybe you have a friend who is a size ___ and you like how she looks, and then you can set that as your goal? By the way, there's also a thread about this in the "Most Memorable Posts" forum: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...al-weight.html (How do we set our goal weight?)

| Just so you know, you're gorgeous and shouldn't be disgusted by the way you look! Also, if you want to see the scales moving some more, not only would I suggest you move to OWL (as G said), but also you may want to give up the aspartame. If you INSIST on having sweet stuff, I'd look into Splenda/sucralose. It's an artificial sweetener that is allowed (up to 3 servings per day). I did a quick search for online places that you could buy from and would ship to Egypt, but nothing comes up. You or your friends/family would surely know places to get it, probably. Or you could have it shipped from the UK or America if you can spare the cash. |
