bacon w/o sugar?

I am having a hard time finding bacon that isn't cured with sugar. Even though the carbs are at 0. Any suggestions?

I found a brand of sausage that isn't made with sugar or nitrates, etc. So I gave up on bacon and use that. I couldn't find bacon without sugar either. Though I admit I ate it for a while and it didn't give me any problems. I even went to our natural/health food store. The bacon they had didn't have nitrates but still had sugar.

Thanks!! I went to two stores and couldn't find any without sugar. I even found "Uncured" but still had trace sugar. I will try whole foods but doubt I am going to find any. Thanks so much for your reply. I will probably end up with sausage too.

This is the sausage I use. If you should find it just look carefully because they also make sausage with sugar. I think the package is more simple on the sugarless ones. Last time I got it, I was in a hurry and just grabbed and ended up with maple flavored sausage. Good thing my kids will eat it.

The sugarless ones are near the bottom of the sausage list.

I use Plumrose low sodium and no sugar but I don't know if you can get that brand near you.

I buy Plumrose at Walmart and also in our 2 large grocery chain stores.

Have you tried Virginia Cured bacon? It's cured with salt instead of sugar, so it's higher in sodium, but has little or no sugar and it tastes absolutel delicious.

It's the kind we always buy, and it's my favorite- you should be able to find it at Wal-Mart.

Ralphs has it. No sugar and reduced sodium

I went in to an arab market store the other day and found that their meats - including beef bacon - are not cured with sugar. Basically all their meats were 0 carbs, no sugar added, and I must say, the beef bacon is so incredibly yummy, tastes like pork bacon actually. They have a bunch of different types of meats in there that I've never had - all kinds of breakfast type of meat, super delicious!!
