| Hi steph! Make sure you eat all your veggies!! And spread them out over the day. Dr Atkins suggested wheat bran or psyllium husks if you find that you need extra fiber. There is also fiber supplements in pill form, and I like Fiber Sure which is an unflavored granular supplement you can add to anything (tomato sauce, meatloaf, sausage balls, etc). But I personally find that if I eat my recommended veggies, I don't need anything extra. Good luck! |

| And when you choose your veggies, choose those higher in fiber (not lettuce, for example). Use the flax cereal recipe only for constipation. Once the issue is "solved", go back to not more than 1 tbsp of fiber supplement (flaxseed meal, psyllium husks or wheat bran) per day. You will need to take your fiber supplement with a lot of water, or else it will only worsen the problem. You might see a temporary weight gain when you take flax or psyllium husks for constipation. Because they are pretty high in soluble fiber (psyllium husks in particular) they will absorb water and that extra water weight will only disappear when.... umm... you know.... You can also use flax to make Flax Meal Wafers: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...al-wafers.html (Microwave Flax Meal Wafers)

| I moved this thread from the "Recipe Requests" Forum because you'll get more responses to an Induction question in the Induction Forum.

| Separate but related question...I saw this recipe for flax muffins that looks really good: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ute-twist.html (Muffin in a Minute with a twist!). Is that ok for Induction? If not, which rung? |

| It's not for Induction, unless you are constipated and 1, 2 or 3 tbsp of flax meal didn't help. The recipe uses 1/4 cup of flax meal, so that's 4 tbsp. It would be "legal" for OWL Rung 3.

| Lots of water helps too. And exercise. Exercise usually does things for me. And it it doesn't I take a magnesium supplement.

| Isn't it fine to just mix in a heaping teaspoon of psyllium husks into a glass of water and drink it one to three times a day? Each serving has 4 grams of fiber and negates the 4 grams of carbs. As long as one drinks plenty of water, isn't this an easy and sensible solution to the constipation issue? I'm in induction, day three, and have been using the husks since day one and haven't had any problems yet. It isn't deliscious by any means, but it kind of reminds me of eating wheat thins mixed up in water. The product I am using is by "Naturally Preferred" and is just straight "psyllium whole husks" dietary supplement. It has no other ingredients of any kind. Does anyone think that this is a good idea to continue taking even if I am not constipated? I feel like it is keeping me regular and giving me that extra fiber I need. Let me know.
