| If it is released as carbon dioxide does this mean we exhale it. Like we exhale it in our breath? haha Maybe I should breath on a few skinny people at work. So fat is made of mainly carbon, oxygen and hydrogen.. So we burn fat to get energy, burning it we break it doesn into co2 and h20, carbon dioxide and water. They are disposed of in breath and toilet. Is that why I have bad breath this week!! I could have got that completley wrong. But I feel like I learnt something new today. |

| Lol never thought about it like that before. But see your point. Sometimes these things make more sense if you view it that way. |

| The "ketone breath", if that is what you are talking about, is caused by acetone (a type of ketone). According to Dr. Atkins the smell should be a fruity/sweet one, so not necessarily bad. Protein can make your breath smell like ammonia. And food left over in your mouth (TMI, I know) after you're done eating won't give your breath a pleasant odor either. Brushing your teeth (tongue and all) often and using floss and mouthwash really helps.

| Oh, and by the way, you always exhale carbon dioxide while you are alive, so if carbon dioxide would be causing bad breath, your breath would always smell nasty.

| "... some of it will make glucose ..." You're correct. About 5% from glycerol is converted to glucose. I forgot that from Bio-chem, but you reminded me.
