Cool Day 7 - The Cramps Begin...

...so this morning at 6:30, I woke up to TERRIBLY HORRIBLY PAINFUL cramping in my left calf. It was just unbearable. I kept trying to stretch it out, and it would work for half a second until I relaxed, and then BAM it would curl back up again into this horribly painful cramp.

So - I took charge, and this evening I finally bought a multi-vitamin and also bought a bottle of potassium. When looking at my RDA percentages, I noticed potassium was the number one lowest percentage when calculating my food intake at fitday.com

I found a multi-vitamin without iron, it's for "aging" people, however I take that to mean somebody who's not yet 50 because the same brand had that kind as well, the 50+ kind. I couldn't do the women's because it had "Extra" iron in it, couldn't do the men's because it didn't have folate in it (seeing as I'm a female of child-bearing years, I think it's important for me to make sure I am getting that), couldn't do the Pre-Natal's because it's HUGE in iron, and wasn't sure which ones I'd need if I did seperate bottles of things, so I found the one for "aging" people, figured even if it was for 35-40+ that'll be good enough for now.

I should have done it earlier, I'm pretty sure all my stores of excess fluid are gone - especially since my ankles are boney now (even at 1:20am when normally I'd be the size of balloons down there and would need to elevate them to get rid of the excess fluid).

So I'm feeling great, lots of energy, happy moods, I don't feel like a zombie at work even though my job is so boring and monotonous, and I am planning my meals - albeit sometimes only 20 minutes in advance of making them, but I'm still planning them so that they are healthy.

Today's Menu:

1 can of tuna
4 oz kielbasa
1 cup sliced cucumbers with 2 oz cream cheese
1.75 hot italian sausage (no carbs, no sugar, no nitrates, was very good ingredients only)
1 cup romaine lettuce
1 oz cheddar cheese
1/5 cup cucumber
1/5 cup mushrooms
1/5 cup celery
1/5 cup tomatoe
1/5 cup peppers
2 tbsp Greek Feta Dressing (1 carb per tbsp)
1.5 hard boiled eggs

I'm going to troll around recipe sites tomorrow and come up with some ideas for how to include some of the other vegetables that are on the induction list.

Anyway - hope everybody else is doing well.

My husband is being the King of supportiveness. He managed to drink 11 beers last night, a box and a half of Kraft Dinner for lunch today, unknown amounts of caffeinated coffee, and a half quart of cheesecake ice cream. Just think - if he hadn't eaten all that for me, I might have participated in some of that championship eating!

Yes - I am being sarcastic.

LOL. It sounds like things are going really well for you! I'm glad you picked up the vitamins! I hope that helps with the cramping. That happens to me if I don't drink enough water (I usually need about 80 ounces), or I have too much sodium. Happy Sunday!

Thanks! Happy Sunday to you too Stacy!!

Andrea - it's quite possible, lol. Though I hear about more and more of these types of Men as I get older. He'll come around eventually, especially once I really start to thin out.

Tonight's supper: Mock Spanish Rice! My Dad's not looking forward to it, lol - he's already got plans to make sandwiches afterward. I think he'll enjoy it though. My Mom's coming home tonight with 12 ears of corn as well...I might have to explain to her what I'm doing.

I used Linda's Low Carb Website and found this recipe:
Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes

By the way - introducing the multivitamin and the potassium on top of it - I haven't had a cramp since.

Thanks for the link, sorry about my late response - I've had a crazy week. I've tried a couple of Linda's recipes and they are great - my husband LOVED the fried 'rice' and I was the envy of all with my aromatic leftovers at work and I tried the shepherd's pie too, this one sounds similar so it should also be a hit.

Magnesium is the mineral that cures cramps... so if they come back, or if you have an overall achy feeling especially from exercising, pick up some magnesium pills...

Good for you on finding the 'right' multivitamin!
