| On induction you can only have what is on the lists and you have to avoid sugar and all the variations that are sugars. So for all of those you ask about that would be the question. Pepperoni most people snack on. It usually do contain sugar or dextrose - I avoid it personally. If you get it make sure that there is as little as possible and that the sugar is listed very low down on the ingredient list. Chicken broth would be fine but the store bought ones often has sugar and starches. There are some low sodium ones that work fairly well. Ketchup is just filled with sugars but you may find some splenda made ones (not easy to find but they are out there) I would bet taco sauce has a lot of sugar in it. Read the ingredient list. Linda's Low Carb Recipe page has some good recipes for how to make a good spice mix for tacos though. Good questions.

| I finally found a sugar-free pepperoni - it hapens to be turkey pepperoni, but is good. I rarely eat it, but is a nice change, occasionally. I found sugar-free ketchup & BBQ sauce in the US. Linda's recipe for taco seasoning is awesome...I bet it would be good mixed with a bit of tomato sauce & water for a taco sauce...

| Unless sugar is masquerading as "spices" ... there's nothing wrong with that. It's not 0 carbs though ... since many of the ingredients have carbs.

| Hi, I am not a scientist so do not understand the process but Xantham gum is produced from sucrose & glucose so wouldn't it still have sugar in it? Xanthan gum is a polysaccharide used as a food additive and rheology modifier [1]. It is produced by fermentation of glucose or sucrose by the Xanthomonas campestris bacterium. |

| WebMD has an interesting blurb on xanthan gum. It's actually been studied for use in lowering the blood sugar and cholesterol levels of diabetics. (Click the "Use" tab and the clinical references.) |
