Default concern about calories

I will be eating just over 2000 calories today, but under 20g carbs. Is this ok or should I be eating less calories as well?

Eat when you are hungry, and stop eating when you are no longer hungry - even if there is still food on your plate, or you still have food planned in your menu. This works best.
I used to plan 'optional items' in my menus when I started & wasn't sure how much I would be hungry for. I still have more-hungry days and less hungry days - I'm learning to pay attention to my body rathen than to the number of calories I have eaten in a day.

Based on your weight and age, it seems a little high. However, if your calories fluctuate and are lower on other days then it may balance out.

Going by my own personal experience here only, I've found that my age, weight and the fact that I'm post-menopausal means that I need lower calories to lose weight consistently. My daily average is around 1400-1500 with a low of around 1000 and a high of 1650.

The focus on Atkins (especially during Induction) is to have the proper ratio of fats/protein/carbs so I would pay attention to that but if you notice that your weight is not dropping as quickly or consistently as you'd like, maybe try reducing your calories too. HTH

Don't force yourself to eat - if you need to eat food up there fine but if you feel satisfied stop eating and move on to doing something else.

But if there is a day I eat lost of calories it does not worry me as long as I ate as I was hungry and I did not go into some weird binge. It all works out. No matter what some people claim I do not believe that we have a constant energy need for each day. Some days are different.
