Default First Day Induction! - Ready for a change!

Hi Everyone!.

I'm really happy to be here!. I've gained so much weight the last 4 years from reckless eating due to getting through a bad time in life. No more self destruction. You know you must do something when you have a hard time facing yourself in the mirror every morning because of the guilt and shame you feel from binge eating the day before. I've never had any type of weight problem in my life. Other then being pregnant and having 2 wonderful daughters, I used to always be fit and cared about my appearance. I'm not sure why I stopped caring about myself in this way, but I did. And I gained not only weight, but a binge eating problem/disorder.

I tried Weight Watchers. It still allows cakes and foods you like, so it was hard for me to use control. I need to "rid" myself of the desire head for sweets to make myself feel better, withdrawalling off sugar and drastically reducing my coffee intake is needed .


Here I go.....and I"m excited.

Welcome to the Atkins Board TaylorLee.

The 2002 Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) is the book we follow here. It would be a helpful for you to have a copy of the book to refer to (
www.amazon.com or www.half.com have inexpensive copies). Make sure you drink a minimum of 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), exercise starting today and taking a multi-vitamin without iron (you should get enough iron with the foods you are eating on Atkins).
Check all around the board for everything there is to, there is a challenge section with both exercise and non exercise challenges, Rate My Menu for help with your food, journaling – something for everyone.


Make a copy of this list

If a food isn’t listed on the acceptable food list don’t eat it. Learn to read the label on all foods you buy - don’t just look at the “carb” number look at the ingredients list of everything and check the ingredients against your list. Just because it says "low carb" doesn't mean you can eat it. Also check for hidden sugars (learn the names used in place of the word “sugar”).

You don't have much to loose so it's a good idea to do the 2 weeks of induction then move on to OWL (ongoing weight loss) and start adding back foods. You need enough time to go through the rungs and find the foods you'll be able to eat without trouble.

The recipe sites are helpful for meal planning – just make sure you use Induction Recipes to begin with.

Hi and thank you for the welcome!. A person can get addicted to the reading in here!. This site is full of great info and motivation. I have read the book and understand what I need to do and enjoyed my first day . At lots of the right stuff, although I do need more veggies today. Linda's recipe site looks awesome too.
