Default Started 2nd week but still confused

Hi everyone.

This is my first time on Atkins and it's actually the longest time I've stayed on a diet. It's actually the first time I posted anything on a weight loss forum site as I have always tried to battle my weight problem alone but as I have been lurking on this forum, I found everyone to be so supportive and helpful.

I just completed my first week of induction and I have lost 3 pounds but I have a long way to go and I was wondering if I was doing anything wrong that is preventing me from losing weight faster. My typical menu is as follows:

-Breakfast: 3 strips of bacon + coffee with 1/2 of a splenda pack & heavy cream or 2 strips of bacon and 2 eggs + coffee with 1/2 of a splenda pack & heavy cream
-Lunch: 3/4 of 1 chicken breast with garlic salt and pepper cooked in spray olive oil + green peppers or 2 pieces of tilipia fish cooked in spray butter oil + green peppers
-Snack: Coffee with 1/2 of a splenda pack & heavy cream
-Dinner: 3 or 4 slices of pork bellies with salt and pepper dipped in sesame oil + perilla leaves
-2/3 of water gallon

As you can see from my menu, I can't cook! I could do without the coffee but I decided to drink it since I don't eat cheese and wanted to get some more fat from the heavy cream. I do have trouble finishing my food as I get full pretty fast. I think I cheated accidentally because I did eat out couple times but wasn't sure what was in the grilled shrimps and steaks I ate. I am not exercising but I probably should and I'm in my late 20's and I have a small frame. Am I doing the diet correctly? Can I do the diet better in terms of what I eat? Suggestions are very appreciated as I am clueless!

You have 47 lbs to lose. 3 lbs out of 47 is over 6%. In one week! That's not bad at all.

Are you eating 3 cups of vegetables? And are approximately 65% of your calories coming from fat and 30% from protein?

I've only seen perilla leaves used in tiny portions in other foods. Are you eating them as a side dish?

How much heavy cream are you using? It is limited to 2-3 tbsp during Induction.

To actually follow Atkins correctly, you need to start exercising. That will likely speed up fat loss. Don't forget to take body measurements too, because losing inches is the best indicator of fat loss.

Are you taking a vitamin supplement? Any other supplements or medications you are taking?

Imagine that you're doing great, losing weight, feeling better than ever, thrilled with yourself, hearing compliments from friends and acquaintances---and then it happens! Despite all your good intentions, you're mightily tempted by a food you're not supposed to have. What to do? I'll tell you this: You'd better have a strategy ready!"

Okay ... I think I did a lot of things wrong so far. I am lacking in fat and I used too much heavy cream and not enough veggies. I just been doing this haphazardly but I will start counting everything I eat and hopefully I will lose faster.

Thank you for your replies!

It sounds like reading the 2002 Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution book would help you - you'll find out how to get the best results possible (www.amazon.com or www.half.com have inexpensive copies).

Make sure you drink a minimum of 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), exercise starting today and taking a multi-vitamin without iron (you should get enough iron with the foods you are eating on Atkins).

Make a copy of this list (What foods can be eaten on Induction?)(What foods can be eaten on Induction?)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html and take it with you when you go to the store. If a food isn’t listed on the acceptable food list don’t eat it. Learn to read the label on all foods you buy - don’t just look at the “carb” number look at the ingredients list of everything and check the ingredients against your list. Just because it says "low carb" doesn't mean you can eat it. Also check for hidden sugars (learn the names used in place of the word “sugar”).

Buy some PLAIN frozen green vegetables at the store (broccoli, green beans, greens, etc) and microwave them or cook on the stovetop for just a few minutes and then throw some butter on them. It takes no cooking skills whatsoever, it's fast, and you will be getting your veggies in and getting some fat from the butter.

Congratulations on your progress so far!
