Default More Questions about Atkins and Induction

Hi, I went book hunting this weekend for Dr. Atkins New Diet revolution, one book store had one left in stock, another has to order, both places are really expensive, well I guess its not too bad, almost 20 dollars, but I have already baught other two atkisn book, and Im fustrated to go out and buy this one at that price when I basically have to throw the other two 'wrong' books away.

I will try out Induction on the knowledge I collected from this board, just a few more questions

Are you allowed any snacks on Induction, since you not allowed any fruit? What can you snack on during induction, could you have a boiled egg as a snack?

I know I will have to eventually get the book, but at the moment I'll wait a while and just follow Induction.

Do you get fed up after a while by not having any fruit or yoghurt for example? A friend of mine said she tried Atkins but felt fustrated because she craved fruit.

I'm not sure where you searched for the book, but check drift stores. They often sell it at ridiculous prices. You can also order the book from Amazon. Used ones have prices starting at £0.01.

You can snack on anything from the Acceptable Foods List for Induction. This includes boiled eggs, but there are many other alternatives, for e.g. veggies with some dip, left overs, cheese.

I guess your friend either doesn't have the book or she didn't read it (carefully). The Induction phase is not the whole diet. It only has to last for 14 days. After these 14 days, if one is bored with her food choices, one should definitely move to OWL and slowly progress through the OWL Rungs (see the stickies in the OWL forum if you don't know what the OWL Rungs are). On OWL, one can eat yogurt, fruits, and also legumes, grains, nuts, starchy vegetables, etc. If you tell this to your friend, maybe you can convince her to get back on Atkins.

And read the book!

Despite all your good intentions, you're mightily tempted by a food you're not supposed to have. What to do? I'll tell you this: You'd better have a strategy ready!"

Thanks very much for your reply. Thats good to know about having fruit later on, the book I have Atkins essentials, the one that is the 'wrong' book, they suggest if one has a lot of weight to lose one should stick to Induction for 6 months.

I think Ill try out Induction for a while but if i get fed up, then ill look into OWL myself. I followed the Dr Cohen diet several years ago, very strict diet, but you can eat fruit and yoghurt and lose tons of weight but i got fed up after a while and felt restricted and it all piled back on again, thats why I also like the idea of Atkins u dont have to starve where most diets you do starve and slow down your metabolism

Thanks for your advice I appreciate it
